What Gift Should I Get For My Best Friend’s Wedding? – Ask The Expert Answer

I have no clue what to get my best friend for her wedding as she won’t tell me what they need or want…Help!

Hi Katie.  Has your friend registered with any bridal registries?  It is common practise for the family to answer questions about what the couple need, and they usually know where the couple have registered for wedding gifts. 

You can find a lot of ideas in this link to Wedding Gifts & Keepsakes.  Ask other friends that you have in common what they are getting them for a gift, and you might consider all going in together to get a larger gift. 

Do they have a house or an apartment?  Obviously you know where they live, what things they have in their homes, so look around for something that they might like that they don’t have.  I’ve seen group purchases buy everything from kitchen appliances to patio sets and BBQ’s.  Remember that when you purchase a gift, you can often get a "gift receipt" so they can exchange it if they don’t like it or want something different. 

If she won’t tell you what to get, that gives you the freedom to choose yourself.  If you are friends, then you have things in common.  What kind of thing would you like that would be appropriate for a couple?
