How Do I Do A Different Number of Bridesmaids and Bestmen? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Letty:

I’m having a very untraditional wedding.  So far I have two matrons of honor and six bridesmaids.  My fiancé has his best man and six groomsmen. I already have one more girl than he has guys BUT I still have two other friends that I really, really want in my wedding.  Am I way off?  Would it be a bad idea to add them to my side? How could I even arrange all of this?  I’m so confused and don’t know what to do…. What do you think?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Letty.  This situation is becoming more and more common, so I suggest you enjoy the fact that you have so many people that you are close to!  No you are not "way off".  The way to solve this situation is that some of the guys would walk TWO of the ladies down the aisle, instead of one.  There is no hard and fast rule, but this is my suggestion:

Bestman + Matron of Honour

Groomsman + Matron of Honour

Groomsman + TWO Bridesmaids

Groomsman + ONE Bridesmaid

Groomsman + TWO Bridesmaids

Groomsman + ONE Bridesmaid

Groomsman + TWO Bridesmaids

Be aware that it is expected that you purchase gifts for your bridal party, so the more you have in your bridal party, the more costly this will be.  But it is your choice, as it is the special day of you and your fiance.  Enjoy!
