What Do I Need For A Destination Wedding In Florida? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Kenna Marie:

Hello, I am trying to plan my wedding for the month of August of 09 and I would love to have it in St. Augustine, Florida on Vilano Beach.  What all do I need to do to make this happen legally?  Thank you.

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Kenna Marie, and congratulations on your upcoming marriage.  Here is a link to the Clerk of the Circuit Court in Florida, which is where you will need to purchase your marriage license.  A premarital course is required in some cases, and non-residents have a longer waiting period (3 days) before getting their license.

Please contact one of the offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court listed on the link to get the full details.  The nice thing is that they do not require you to have a blood test, which many "destination wedding" sites require you get in their country before the marriage.  Florida does have a premarital course requirement which can be waived in certain circumstances if you review certain documents and sign that you acknowledge the information contained therein.  You will have to contact them to see what requirements are needed in your situation.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email again.
