What Kind Of Centerpieces Can I Use For My Wedding Reception? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Melissa:

Hi, we are having a summer wedding next year and I have no idea what kind of centerpiece to do. We are having an outdoor garden wedding and my wedding colors are fuscia and emerald green. I was wondering what kind of flowers I should use in my centerpieces. I want to do floating flowers… preferably fuscia with some emerald green in there too. Any idea’s? or links of some centerpieces I can look at??  Thanks so much for your time.

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Melissa, and congratulations on your upcoming marriage.  Centrepieces fall into a few different categories.

The first are low centrepieces that your guests can see over to talk to other guests.  These can be flower arrangements, a low bowl with floating candles and flowers , or just about any other type of low arrangement.  I was at a wedding once, where they used clay flower pots with florists styrofoam, and they had fresh flowers in them.  It was very lovely, and they used flowers from their own garden.  There are candle centrepieces, as well as flower vases that are a medium height.  Another option is to have large trumpet vases with large flower arrangements. There are so many options that are available, and then anyone with some imagination and some flowers can create their own unique centrepieces that make a personal statement.

With an outdoor wedding like you have described, I would suggest using a rose bowl  with floating flower heads and floating candles.  The bowl will protect the flame from the wind, and give lovely lighting as evening sets in.  It’s a great option for table lighting in the evening, unless you have planned for other table lighting after dark.

My suggestions are to check out this video, and to google ‘florists’ and see what they have online for wedding flowers and centrepieces.  There are over 300 videos showing wedding centerpieces on YouTube.  You are sure to find something that suits your personal style.
