Question from Kelly:
Hi Angela, I have decided to use a bright red/orange for the matron of honours’ wedding ribbon and flower and am undecided on whether the dress in a light pink of some kind would clash or could be good fun. We’re in our early 30′s and like to have fun so it reflects what we wanted which was a celebration rather than serious and more romantic style. However, what I obviously need to avoid is it looking tacky rather than stylish!
Can you suggest a pink that would go with red/orange or another combination colour? Thanks for your advice.
Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:
Hi Kelly, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. The important thing when adding pink to the red/orange is to keep the colour palette in the same tones. So, if you are using bright orange/red, your pink needs to be in the same bright tone. This gives the colours a cohesive look and they would work well together. If you used a pale pink, for example, the accent colours would overpower the light pink, and it would not look right.
If you choose to go with another colour, yellow would work well with red, orange, and pink—not that I want to add more colour, but you do have other options. This article on choosing your wedding colours will give you a guidelines to follow when choosing your wedding colours. There are many ways to incorporate wedding favours and wedding decorations into your overall colour scheme, but the important thing is to keep the colour tones the same strength.
