What Colours Go With Burgundy and Ivory For My Wedding? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Christine:

I’m planning a summer wedding and had chosen Burgundy and Ivory as my main colours.  I would like to know what other colours goes well with these two
colours?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Christine, and congratulations on  your upcoming wedding.  Burgundy and ivory are great colours.  To accent this, choose a nice kaki or moss green colour.  Keep the colours the same strength (tone) to have them work together.  Ivory is a great neutral with green and burgundy being complementary colours (across the colour wheel from each other).

Your other options are tonal (monochromatic) with a variety of shades of burgundy with your neutral ivory.  Another option is harmonious colours (next to burgundy on the colour wheel) which would be into the reds or purples, depending upon the undertone of your burgundy.  If you are feeling bold, you might choose triadic colours like blue-green, and yellow-orange with your burgundy.  No matter which colours you choose, make sure they have the same colour tone—you don’t want to mix a pastel with a bold colour.   There are many choices when choosing your wedding colours, and almost all of them can be made to work if used in the right way with your neutrals.
