Hi there. My name is Krista and my fiance and I have been thinking about having our wedding at Bayfield on the beach in the summer of 2010.  I would like to know of the estimates of such a request. Exactly how much will it cost to have the ceremony itself on the beach in Bayfield and does it require a permit? We need to know so early so we know what we will be spending on everything so we can save the money for it all. Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Krista and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Beach weddings are a lovely way to celebrate your special day.  This posts on beach weddings will give you some information about this.

You will have to contact your local parks or civic authority to obtain the necessary permits, if any are needed.  Many public sites just need to be booked and there may be no fees at all.  It depends upon your local government. 

I would make a phone call to the parks branch, or just to your local civic office, and they will direct you to the right department to arrange such a thing.  They get requests for this all the time, and most places have someone who specializes in helping the public organize their event on public property.

With the money you will save on renting a public space vs a commercial space like a hotel or church, you may want to consider these beautiful wedding beach favours.  I particularly love the "Castles in the Sand" Sand Castle Tea Light which comes in a set of 4.  Most weddings cost at a minimum $10,000, with the average around $18,000 according the statistics for 2008.  Of course, there are many weddings that cost over $30,000.  There are interesting ways to save money without sacrificing the quality of your wedding day.  Look through the posts on this website for lots of wedding ideas to save money on your wedding.
