Question from Geri:
I wanted to have something very interest at my wedding maybe professional latin dancers or something. Do you have any ideas; it’s an evening wedding in March? Plus can you hire a planner just for the actua day of the wedding just someone to keep thing running smoothly or do you have to hire them way
before?
Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:
Hi Geri and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Professional latin dancers are a great way to break up the evening activities. What you should consider is the order of events at your reception. Receiving line, the meal, speeches, the official dances (first dance, bride-father dance, etc), cold buffet or dessert buffet later in the evening, and so forth. You should leave free time for your guests to visit and relax, so pace the events of the evening.
A good rule of thumb is to have something new every hour for 10 – 20 minutes. This keeps the evening moving, and keeps your guests occupied. Whether you have performers, picture taking, special dances, or other events, space your events. Good quality musicians/DJ should have a repetoire of special dances and other entertainments to keep the evening flowing smoothly.
All wedding planners have their own business, so each runs their business differently. I have not heard of any wedding planner who has refused a one-day job. Phone around and interview some wedding planners and look for someone who will do what you want them to do, and who understands your vision.
Good luck and enjoy!
