Question from Natalie:
Hi Angela, My future husband is in the RCMP and is planning on wearing his red suit. What color can my bridesmaid’s wear? I do not have any wedding colors picked out yet. I have been asking around and a friend of mine is getting married a week after me and her future husband is also wearing red, she already picked out her bridesmaid dress’s, which are yellow, so yellow is out of the question. What other wedding colors will go with the groom wearing red?
Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:
Hi Natalie. This article on choosing your wedding colours will give you some ideas on your colour options. You can go "tonal" in your colour scheme which would be various shades of red, but in the same colour tones as the red uniform. Think of a monochromatic look to better understand this colour scheme.
A complementary colour scheme would involve using the colour green. A harmonious colour scheme would involve using colours next to each other on the colour wheel like pinks, and oranges. Using triadic colours like yellow and blue also work really well. Since yellow is not a choice for you, consider blue for your bridesmaids, but your decorations could have a touch of yellow with blue and red.
Check out these wedding favours to help compliment your colour choice. There are some lovely maple leaf favours and red wedding favours that would work well with your colour choices.
If you don’t like any of these colour choices, I suggest you go neutral with browns (beige, taupes, or darker browns), grey tones, or even silver/grey. If you have any other questions, feel free to email again.
