How Do I Word Our Wedding Invitation? – Ask The Expert Answer
Question from Pamela:
Hello. How do I include our son in announcing our wedding. We would like both of our parents mentioned as well.
Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:
Hi Pamela and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. You are asking how to word a wedding announcement. Wedding announcements are put in newspapers and on occassion are printed and formally sent out to family members. To word a wedding annoucement, you could say, "bride’s parents, grooms parents, and son’s name are pleased to annouce the upcoming marriage of ….. There is no need to state the date of the upcoming wedding at this point.
In case you meant to ask how to word a wedding invitation, I will answer that also. How a wedding invitation is worded depends upon who is paying for the wedding reception.
If you and your fiance are paying for the wedding, the invitation could say: Fiance’s full name, Your full name, and Your son’s name request the honour of your presence at the marriage of Brides full name daughter of Mr. & Mr. ….. to Grooms full name son of Mr. & Mrs….. followed by when and where, RSVP, etc.
If the bride’s parents are paying for the wedding as is traditional, it would say: Mr. & Mrs….. request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Bride’s full name to Grooms full name son of Mr. & Mrs….. followed by when and where, RSVP, etc.
If both parents are sharing the cost of the wedding, the invitation would state: Mr. & Mrs. bride’s parents name, and Mr. & Mrs. grooms parents name…… invite you to share the joy of the marriage celebration of their daughter….. and their son…… etc.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
