What Wedding Colours Go With Red and Yellow Walls? – Ask The Expert Answer

Hi, I have booked my wedding reception at a hotel which has yellow and red walls, it’s called a colosseum room. I have not chosen my bridesmaid dresses yet.  I was thinking about lilac or a light colour for the bridemaid dresses.  Will these colours go with the room or have you any suggestions.

Hi Charmaine, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Red and yellow walls!  I am assuming they would call it red and gold. Those are bold colours.  I assume that it is a large room?  The real question is what is the lighting like?  Most hotel rooms allow you to adjust lighting in such a way that allow the walls to disappear.  If the yellow is prominent on the walls, with dim lighting it can almost look neutral.  The ceiling lighting usually highlights the tables and how they are decorated, so your colours would be prominent.  The wall sconces (if there are any) can be dimly lit. 

I suggest you call the site, and ask to see the room set for a function with the lighting appropriately dimmed.  Then you will know exactly how it will look and can make your decision.  Lilac sounds like a lovely colour, and you might find these wedding colour choices interesting and helpful.
