How Much Should I Give For A Cash Gift? – Ask THe Expert Answer

Question from Dana:

The couple has requested cash instead of gifts.  How much is appropriate without being excessive or cheap?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Usually, a cash gift is the ‘cost per plate’ plus what you feel you would spend on a physical gift.  This varies in different cities and venues.  If there are two of you, then you would add the cost of another plate to that amount.

Just because the couple ask for cash, you don’t have to give cash.  A gift is something that is freely given by the giver, and should never be dictated by the recipient.  This video on the etiquette of cash gifts will give you more information.
