How Do I Decorate With Organza? – Ask The Expert Answser

Question from Leanna:

Hi, I really need your help on this one. My son is getting married and I’m doing the flowers and tables for the reception. I have limited funds and they have less, so I’m trying to help them as much as possible, being the only parent.

The bride would like to decorate with canary yellow organza (I would prefer tulle).  There are 10, 90" round tables and I’m draping yellow organza around white tablecloths. I’ve assumed that 180" per table is long enough but the bolts of organza I bought are 56" to 60" wide, so I’m planning to divide them lengthwise and hem the sides myself to save money.

Question #1 is, can No-Sew be used to secure fraying and save hemming organza?  and Question #2 is, if I divide the fabric in 3rds lengthwise, would 18" to
20" be a full enough drape to look good?

Please help me and thanks a lot.

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Your wedding reception decorations sound lovely.  I have not used No-Sew on organza, but I suggest that you try a test piece to see how well it works.  I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work.  As for your second question, I think that 18" to 20" should be enough to make a nice drape, but it is really a matter of personal taste.

If guests are sitting at each table, and you are draping those tables, you don’t want it to be too bulky.  So I think that dividing it into thirds would be fine.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
