We are invited to a good friend’s wedding in Jacksonville, Florida. The wedding is at 7 pm in the evening. What is the appropriate attire for women and men guests?

Hi Frankie. You don’t state whether this is a formal or a casual wedding. If the wedding is being held in someone’s backyard, you would dress differently than if you were invited to a reception at a posh hotel. If you are at all unsure of the formality of the wedding, a call to those who are hosting the wedding (listed at the top of a wedding invitation) will get you your answers.
Standard wedding attire for men is a suit and tie, and a dress for the ladies. Women have a few more choices, as they can also wear trousers, but high heels, and an upscale top need to balance the simplicity of the pants. Overall, you are looking for a classy look—not the usual jeans, sweats, etc. that is so common today.
In addition to being suitably dressed, as guests you will need to purchase a wedding gift with a card.
