What Does The Groom Wear To His Destination Wedding? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Ed:

Hi – I’m wondering what to wear for my December wedding in Mexico. It’s not a beach resort wedding but rather an outdoor wedding in the interior part of Mexico. It will be formal but I’m not partial to tuxedoes. I’m wondering what I can do to stand out from our male guests that will be wearing suits?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Ed.  Well there are tuxedos, and then there are tuxedos!  Have you gone into a formal wear store to see what your options are? There are some great options without going for the striped trouser, and tuxedo tails that is part of a formal tuxedo.

At the least, you need a nice suit—and because it is formal, you need a black suit and a quality white shirt.  Black tie.  Black shoes and socks.  You can forgo the cumberbund if you choose, but it could be a way to incorporate the wedding colours into your attire.  Your bride can advise you, as can the staff at any formal wear store you visit.

In addition, your corsage/boutonniere will identify you from the other guests.  Your corsage will be a little more elaborate than the boutonnieres of your groomsmen, so you will be easily identified.

I hope that answers your questions.
