How Do We Ask For Money Gifts For Our Wedding? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Danielle:

I am looking for a nice way to ask for money from people for our wedding gifts. We live together and already have all the things we need in our house and our honeymoon is being paid for by parents.  What do you suggest I write?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

There is never a nice way to ask for money, and to do so at a wedding is tacky.  This video explains what you need to know about asking for money at a wedding.  If you want money as a gift, you will let your family and bridal party know, and if guests ASK, then they can be told you prefer a monetary gift.  This is a wedding celebration, and not a money grab.  You don’t want your guests to think you only invited them because of the money they will bring to you—which is what asking for money will look like.  You are asking your guests to share in the joy of your wedding celebration.  Period.  There should be no mention of gifts anywhere.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.
