Weight Loss Strategies for the Bride-to-be

Weight Loss

Weight Loss

No doubt you want to look your absolute best on your wedding day.  It is, after all, a day that will be captured in pictures for you and your family to pour over years after the big event.  Nobody wants to look back at their wedding and wish they had been in better shape.  The good news is that there are simple steps you can take to lose weight for your wedding without sacrificing all of your time and money for special diets.  Here are some weight loss tips that can help turn both the bride and groom into a va va voom couple.

Start Early

Typically the happy couple plans their wedding to take place at least several months from the date of engagement.  This works in your favor if you begin your weight loss journey right away.  Let’s say you have 6 months before your wedding.  Average weight loss is about 2 pounds a week, which translates into a whopping 48 pound weight loss before your big day.  When you look at the baby steps and the reward for taking them, it’s totally worth the little bit of effort it takes to watch what you eat.

Go Shopping

Of course the months leading up to your wedding are filled with shopping; but this is about your weight, which means you need to go grocery shopping.  Not just go grocery shopping, but actually change the way you go about buying food.  To lose weight, stop shopping in the middle aisles of the grocery store.  Swap frozen or boxed dinners for fresh foods that will fuel you and help you burn pounds of fat consistently.

Scared of the preparation it takes to make healthy food?  Don’t be!  A little bit of preparation is good for the new couple, as it gives you something new to do together.  At the beginning of each week, cook up a few pounds of skinless chicken breast, cut it up and place it in an airtight container in the fridge.  Stock up on the veggies that you like the most (hopefully some green ones) and you’ll have slimming meals ready in just minutes.

One last tip on diet:  Lose the soda, lose the weight.

Take a Hike

Of course a big part of losing weight for your wedding, or any other occasion is getting out of the house for exercise.  As with preparing meals together, exercise offers another opportunity to spend time together as a couple.  And you know what they say:  the couple that sweats together…well, sweats together.  We’ll just leave it at that.

When it comes to exercising as a couple, there are so many options you could choose from.  Even during the busy wedding prep stage, you can carve out 45 minutes to an hour a day to get your heart pumping.  Take a bike ride, a jog, or a brisk hike.  Hiking is a great weight loss exercise because it is fun as well as somewhat difficult.  You not only burn calories, but also work muscles at the same time.

With just these few tips, you can be well on your way to the ideal shape for your wedding day and improve your overall health in the process.
