According to a recent wedding study (2006), citied in The Calgary Sun, 38% of weddings were paid for by the bride’s parents and 26% were paid for by the bride and groom. Last year, the bride and groom paid 32% of the time, with the bride’s parents on the hook 30% of the time.
Here are some more interesting findings of that same study:
- More engagements take place in December than any other month (15 %)
- The most popular month to get married is July at 11%. June, August and September come in at 10%.
- The average age of the bride-to-be is 27 years - the future hubby’s age is 29.
- Men propose in 99% of the cases — the women, just 1%.
- Engagment usually last 17 months.
It looks like that things are not the way they appear to be, some truly interesting statistics! I personally thought that nothing happens in December with regard to weddngs, but heard from a Jewelry store owner recently that his high season for engagement rings is December. "It makes a wonderful Christmas present, too," he said.
