Great Autumn Wedding Ideas
It is important to have consistency in design, taste, and smell while planning your wedding and wedding reception. The best way to do that, is to pick a general theme, like “summer nights” if you are having a summer evening wedding, and then narrow down specifics within that general theme and thread it throughout the entire décor and mood.
For instance, say you decide to pick “autumn harvest” as your general wedding theme if you are planning to have your wedding in the fall. Next, is to pick certain details that that ignite your imagination when thinking about you theme. Let’s say you want to feature red, yellow, and orange colors for your table place cards, place matting, etc… You might also want to consider using real or faux autumn leaves bedded around flower bouquets on you reception tables to give it a more harvest look.

Planning your wedding shouldn’t stop at just how the decorations look. You should also consider what smells are associated with autumn. For me, I think of cinnamon and sugar. You should maybe try to buy scented candles or air fresheners of those particular smells to help give you and your guests the whole “autumn harvest” effect.
Taste is also another important aspect in planning your wedding. If you associate cinnamon with autumn and want to incorporate it into your theme, then perhaps serve cinnamon coffee, or add some cinnamon in your cake or on your chicken. That way the cinnamon detail is carried out through both smell and taste.

Another flavor I associate with autumn is homemade apple butter and pumpkin butter. My grandmother used to make homemade apple butter and pumpkin butter towards the end of the summer and beginning of the fall. When I think of “autumn harvest” I think of apples ripening and pumpkins growing so I would want to give my guests either apple butter or pumpkin butter for a wedding favour. Also, apples are red and pumpkins are orange so the colors of both the favours and the rest of the décor also match.
