Question from Emira in California
Hi!
I’m having a wedding in January in California and I’m thinking of doing an
Arabian theme wedding. Our musician is already trained in Arabic music so I
thought to continue with that. I don’t want to overdo it but I want people
to be able to recognize this is the theme. I would love some ideas as far
as draping on the ceiling and in what colors, birides maids dresses, table
settings. I’m doing the wedding on a small budget so it’s important that I
don’t spend too much on decorations but still make it exotic. I don’t know
if there is such a thing as classy exotic but thats what my vision could be
described as. I just need ideas for the details.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Emira

Hi Emira,
What a fun theme!
Arabian themed weddings are best if done in the evening. You are looking for a cozy and comfy feel yet every exotic looking. Lots of fabrics and bold colours such as Gold, yellow, red, purple, blue, and brown. Stay away from pastel colours; you are looking for dark rich fabrics.
Decorate the room with fun lanterns in gold that look like they could house a genie. Light the room with tea lights and votives but check with the venue first as some don’t allow open flames. An alternative is to use the battery operated tea lights. You can use funky vases with leafy plants that resemble palm trees. If it’s in your budget a great look is to drape fabric from the ceiling to resemble a tent or canopy. If not, focus on the table settings and make them look really nice instead. The idea is to give the illusion but not overdo it or it could look really tacky.
I would recommend either red, purple or brown for bridesmaids dresses with gold accessories.
Many items can be purchased from a local dollar store or thrift store so they have that worn in look.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thank you,
Angela
