Buy wedding favours in Delhi, Ontario, Canada

Delhi (pronounced as Del-High), unlike Delhi (pronounced as Del-Hee) which is the second largest metropolis in India after Mumbai, is just a rural town part of a single-tier municipality of the County of Norfolk in Ontario, Canada. Before 2001, Delhi was located within the Township of Delhi, which was a municipal government within the Regional Municipality of Haldimand–Norfolk. It is located within the provincial riding of Haldimand––Norfolk––Brant and the federal constituency of Haldimand–Norfolk. The population of the place now stands at just approximately 4,500 although it was more than three times this number in 2001 when the population was recorded to be 16,365 with a density of 30.8 square kilometers then.

This rural town in Ontario did not always bear the name ‘Delhi’. It started off as Frederickburg in the early 1800s after Frederick Sovereign who settled in the area during that time. Only in the year 1872 was its name changed to Delhi which has remained till this day. This change was brought about with the arrival of railways and post offices to rural parts of Ontario, where a number of towns bearing similar names also underwent changes to be named after the capital cities of various countries.

This countryside town is well-known for the tobacco fields that surround it.  Because of this, it is also known as the Heart of the Tobacco Country. Therefore, it is only logical that part of the agricultural heritage of Delhi involved the cultivation of tobacco. In order to commemorate this part of its history, the town has set up a tobacco museum especially for this purpose. Most of the local farms in the area depend heavily upon Jamaican, Mexican as well as French Canadian labors for their fields. These usually arrive around mid to late April and will work on the farms for about half a year before returning to their homelands in early to mid November.

Delhi has plenty to offer with the discovery of quite a number of well-established businesses. It combines a tranquil rural environment with an exceptionally favored location ringed by the large commercial and industrial areas of Ontario’s Goldes Horseshoe as well as the states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and New York. In other words, it can be said that this lovely town has the best of both worlds. In addition, the ideal climate of the place also enhances the excellent quality lifestyle of the people as outdoor activities are great favorites among the community. The town also has the potential for unlimited development besides the already existing outstanding recreational and healthcare facilities, a culturally diverse population and an excellent labor force. Hence, Delhi actually reflects the best of small towns in Ontario in various aspects. Its physical layout is compact to allow walking or biking to all businesses and services. Apart from this, most of its local stores and businesses are locally owned and operated and offers exceptional customer service besides locally grown produces.
