Candles For Weddings And Other Occasions
Candles are always a great addition to any sort of function or celebration, even at weddings. And if you notice, candles have always been present at all major celebrations and occasions, including wedding ceremonies. And not just church weddings too. Candles are used in other wedding cultures too, and even various religions like Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism and many more.
Candles have always graced the altar in church, especially when something important is taking place so naturally, they will also be present during the wedding ceremony. Because of the romantic quality they provide, candles are also used as part of the wedding overall decoration, and are especially noticeable during the wedding reception where they are used as a centerpiece on the guests’ table, simply because they make such a great addition to the atmosphere of the celebration and they look great too.
Unity Candles from Weddingstar
Moreover, with the introduction of the new unity candle ritual at weddings, candles have been made even more popular than ever in the recent years, and their popularity is steadily increasing. So now when we think of wedding candles, there are a number of categories of candles that come to mind which are, the unity candles, the accompanying taper candles, as well as the candles used at the altar, for the reception (which are usually a kind of candle called tealight candle because it is small, petite and very decorative looking) and basically just about anywhere else the couple want to have a candle as part of the decoration.
With beautiful wedding candles naturally come beautiful candle holders. You can’t have stunning looking candles but then have a mangy, old or rusted candle holder to place it in can you? It would completely spoil the entire look and you can’t have anything less than perfect at your wedding. That’s why many candles which are going to be used for the wedding are usually sold in sets with an accompanying candle holder, especially for the unity candle and its two taper candles, the three candles which are going to receive the most amount of attention during the wedding ceremony.
All the wedding candles will generally be white, although the couple can opt for a different color scheme if it better suits the theme of the wedding they are going for. And the candles which they choose to have can either be handmade ones (which will be lovely and unique) or store bought (which will also be equally as lovely and unique, although probably not hold as much sentimental value for the couple compared with if they had handmade it). In most cases though, it is only the unity candle which will be singled out by the couple because it is the most special candle out of the entire lot. So it is usually the unity candle which the couple will spend extra time to customize and decorate according to their preference. Sometimes they would do the same for the two taper candles too, since the taper candles and the unity candle have to match.
Now as the bride, no matter how tempted you are or how much you love scented candles, do not use them for your wedding. Yes, scented candles are lovely things and the aromas that they give off can be quite pleasant and soothing but it’s still not a good idea to use them as your wedding candles. For one thing, you could end up with a lot of various mixed aromas, especially if you decide to go for different sorts of wedding candles and the smells might not necessarily go well together or have the pleasing overall effect that you envisioned.
And for another, keep in mind that some of your guests may not necessarily take to the smells the way you do. You know that old saying “one man’s meat is another man’s poison?” Well, the same goes for scented candles. Just because you love their smell does not mean that your guests will and you don’t want to have your guests uncomfortable on your wedding day. So steer clear of choosing scented candles for your wedding, as they are best left for either the spa or your own home where you can enjoy their scents for as long as you want.
