Steps for planning a wedding made easy

For someone who is inexperienced at planning an event as big as a wedding, which most brides probably are, planning a wedding can be a very, very stressful ordeal indeed. With so much to get done in what seems like so little time, sometimes it’s hard for the bride – and even the groom-  to prioritize and decide what should be done first and all. But by following these ten simple steps for planning a wedding, you can take a load off your shoulders and plan your wedding just like that!

Step One- the first of the ten steps for planning a wedding is get a wedding planner. There is no one better to guide you than an expert and a wedding planner is exactly the person to guide you through it and offer the best advice. True, a wedding planner is probably not something you would be willing to spend on, especially if you think you can do it yourself, but believe it or not you will be glad of the help.

Step Two- the second step in the list of steps for planning a wedding is to prepare a checklist of things which need to be done. And be sure to write down everything from buying the dress, to preparing the invitations to getting the venue and caterer for your wedding. No detail is too small on the list so write it all down no matter how insignificant it may seem. It makes it much easier to cross off once you have done it and you’ll be able to keep track of the things you have done already.

Step Three- delegate responsibility where possible. True that it is your wedding day, but shouldering the burden of planning for such a major event all on your own will wear you down and might be too much for you to handle. That’s what you have family and friends for so don’t be worried about asking them to chip in where possible. They will be more than happy to help you out.

Step Four – the next thing to do in your steps for planning a wedding is to decide on a budget together with the groom and try your utmost best to stick to it. It may be a little difficult to do so, but try to set a realistic one and stick to it as best you can. Having a budget is better than having none at all, at least this way, you will have something to bear in mind and not to go overboard when doing your shopping.

Step Five- get your guest list organized and send out your invitations as early as possible. The sooner people know about your wedding, the more likely they will be to attend as they have time to prepare for it in advance. Also, getting your guest list organized will make it easier to select a venue and cater the food because you will already know how many people to expect.

Step Six- decide on your wedding theme in advance so you can start the preparations for it earlier. It is always a bad idea to plan for something without having a basic idea in mind so talk to the groom and decide on the theme you both would like to have.

Step Seven- get a second opinion from family and friends if you are not sure about something. Remember you have a budget to stick to so don’t waste money buying something which you might decide is not right at all later on.

Step Eight – if you are stuck for ideas, do as much research as possible. Look through bridal magazines, go to boutiques, browse the internet, whatever you can get your hands on basically and get some guidance and inspiration from there.

Step Nine- make your reservations for the venue and caterers early. These are always best done as early as possible because they tend to get booked up really fast, especially during the popular or peak periods and you don’t want that to be a hindrance to your wedding preparations. The early bird gets the worm as they say.

Step Ten- the last and final step in your steps to planning a wedding guide is to make sure whatever is done for and on the wedding day that it is what both the bride and groom want. It is special day to both and it should be a collaboration of what both the bride and groom want, so discuss everything with each other before it is done.
