No one could ever forget that magical day that they celebrated once, that is their wedding day. Weddings have always been a special occasion, something that a person goes through once in a lifetime usually and it will be the most special day of their lives because it is the start of a whole new beginning for the couple as husband and wife. Which is why the wedding anniversary is considered just as important or special to most couples, usually for sentimental reasons.
An anniversary is traditionally a day in which people remember a significant past event which took place on that day. An anniversary day is celebrated to remember that special day and how much it means to that person or persons. Most anniversaries are happy occasions, like wedding anniversaries or birthdays, but there are sad anniversaries celebrated too, like the death anniversary of a loved one.
Happy anniversaries like birthdays and weddings are celebrated with the giving of gifts usually, a regular occurrence with birthdays and wedding anniversaries especially. In wedding anniversaries, the couples usually spend the day together, go out for a nice dinner perhaps and exchange wedding anniversary gifts with one another afterwards. And wedding anniversary gifts can consist of a wide range of items.
Some examples of what anniversary presents could be for the women are, for example, gifts such as jewelry, diamonds, crystals, pearls, gold, and watches among other things. For the men the gifts could perhaps consist of things like watches, gold in some cases, leather and books just to name a few. The wedding anniversary gifts a couple would select would depend on what they think their partner would like. There are even wedding gifts that the couple could do together just to make the occasion even more special perhaps, like take a trip together, go on a cruise somewhere or do something fun together which they haven’t done before.
Sometimes, the gifts a couple gives or receives during their anniversary would depend on what type of anniversary it is – a first wedding anniversary, a second, a third, a 25th wedding anniversary or a 50th wedding anniversary. For example, for a first wedding anniversary, traditionally the gift would be simple, like a clock for example. The second anniversary would involve something slightly more, like china. The third would be crystals for example, and that is the way it slowly progresses. Each year the gifts would get more and more elaborate and much nicer than the last, although it is not necessary to follow these traditional things. You can still give any gift you want really as these just serve as guides in case you are not entirely sure what you should be giving.
The 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries are the most special anniversaries out of all the years, and naturally the best gifts would be presented during this time. The 25th wedding anniversary is known as the silver anniversary, marking that you have already celebrated 25 wonderful years together. The gifts given during this time would be silver usually, although again, it is not entirely necessary and you are free to make the gift as special as you want it to be.
The 50th wedding anniversary is known the golden jubilee, the halfway mark and a great achievement for anyone. Celebrating 50 years of married life together is something anyone can be proud of as not many people, especially in the modern world today where there are many failed marriages, can actually make it this far together. This special occasion is usually celebrated in a grand fashion, amongst close family members and friends. Of course this means that the couple receives extra gifts on that day from all the family members and friends as well. The common wedding anniversary gifts that are given during the 50th wedding anniversary are usually gifts of gold, especially between the couple, simply because this occasion is a special one.
No matter what sort of gifts are given during the event, or any sort of anniversary for that matter, each gift will be special in its own way because it was given by the loved one. Each gift will be special in its own way, and that is just one of many reasons why anniversaries mean as much as they do.
