Unique Wedding Invitations

You are unique, a one-of-a-kind and you want to reflect it during your wedding.  There is no need to crack your head and have sleepless nights trying to figure out the best and most unique wedding invitations.  All you need is a little bit of creativity and time on your hands and that unique wedding invite will happen.

Wedding invitations can be sent by paper or non-paper materials.  Paper materials are, by far, the most commonly used as they are the most convenient to find and deliver to guests.  Paper invitations can be either in card or letter form, complete with matching envelopes.  Most wedding suppliers today are encouraging wedding couples and planners to be more environmentally conscious and provide ready-made and custom made cards on recycled, natural or biodegradable paper.  Recycled paper is commonly used these days as governments strive to lessen deforestation.  No different and just as good in quality as normal, new paper, it would be good for you to choose using recycled paper for your invitations (make sure you indicate this on your invite) so you can pass on the message to your guests that you do care for the future of mother earth. 

Unique designs on your wedding invitations can feature modern patterns of circles, waves and swirls, instead of the conventional wedding bands, flowers, heart shapes and enjoined hands.  Colors for such cards are usually bolder too using the lesser-known shades of fuschcia, turqoise, citron, purple and even mustard brown.  These will give your invitations an unconventional flavor while maintaining the traditionalism of invitations. 

To be different, you can also depict animated characters on your invitations instead of the normal romantic scenes.  Humor is always a good way to get your recipient’s attention and cartoon or drawn characters on your wedding invites are no exception. 

Do-it-Yourself wedding invitations are your surest way to ensure your invite is unique.  Materials you can use are venetian masks, beads, fake pearls, colored trace paper, wax seals, ribbons, bows, silk strings, soft wire, tulle and just about anything else that is pretty and pliable.  Whatever design you choose can be glamorized by adding a little bit of colored glitter, dust or embossing powder.  To reduce work on your invitations, have them monogrammed or stamped so you can have them personalized and reduce on decorative ideas at the same time.  Using pressed flowers is another inexpensive and unique way of creating a beautiful wedding invitation. 

You can even get your wedding invitations on the wildflower paper, which can double up as a wedding favor.  Printing or writing your invitation on wildflower paper is an environmentally friendly idea where your recipients can always plant the cards instead of throwing them away.  The seedlings implanted in the paper will sprout and grow out of the card and bloom with wildflowers.  Your guests will not only have a constant reminder of your wedding day and the fun they had, they will be able to grow flowers and help keep their surroundings green. 

Non-paper invitations are rare but not unheard of.  Wedding invitations are sent not via conventional methods but are printed, written or engraved on other “wedding” objects, such as wine bottles, creatively-tied bows neatly packaged into a box and even wineglasses.  As these will really stretch your budget, most couples reserve these unique invitations for the most distinguished guests like the mayor of their town, their bosses and any member of the higher echelon of society.  Some mid-range non-paper products that can be used to carry your wedding invites are mini teddy bears, little satin pillows and notes stuck on single stalks of roses and veils. 

Wedding invitations are as much a stamp of your personality as any other wedding accessory and no matter which you choose, what is important is that the invite is a reflection of you and your spouse’s lifestyles and personalities.
