Guest book ? MyDreamWedding.ca “Ask The Expert” Answer

Question from Jim

The order of signatures in the guestbook usually start with honorary guests,
the clergy and his wife, parents of bride, parents of groom, then family,
then other guests including workers. Question: should the grandmas and
grandpas come after the parents and before other family members? I cant
find anything about that but want to know if there was a rule?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela

Hi Jim,

Although there is no hard and fast rule for a guestbook, grandparents traditionally follow the parents.  This usually occurs when family are introduced to the guests, for example, like at a wedding reception.  You could apply this to the guest book as well.

It might interest you to know that the guestbook order is often ignored these days, as weddings tend to be more casual.  But if you are having a formal, traditional wedding, I would put the grandparents after the parents.  ie.  both sets of parents, followed by all sets of grandparents.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to email me.

Sincerely,
