Christmas Wedding – Table Decorations – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Renotta:

I am planning a christmas wedding…what would your advice be on
decorating my tables??

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela Fiebelkorn

Hi Renotta,

A Christmas theme wedding gives you a lot of options in your decorating—just think of all the Christmas decorations and you will get the idea.

If you are looking for something unique, I know of a traditional table decoration that would work well for a Christmas wedding.  A centrepiece made with holly and ivy, with a candle in the middle.

Holly is a popular Christmas plant, and symbolizes goodwill, peace, health and happiness.  Ivy signifies true love, faithfulness, and undying affection – both in marriage and in friendship.  Christmas holly and ivy go together as good-luck plants.  According to tradition, holly brings good luck to the man of the house and ivy to the lady.

Having the eldest person at each table light the candle in a gesture of wishing the couple a long life of happiness together brings a special significance to the table decoration

This type of table decoration would be easy to make yourself, or any local florist could put it together for you.  There are many types of holly and ivy available, but using the "red and green" would match the Christmas colours. An alternative would be holly with the white flowers.  Using white for the flowers would add a beautiful, classic purity to your wedding.

There are, of course, many other options available to you for a winter wedding.  Check out the links for more ideas.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Feel free to add your ideas and comments to this post.
