Who Plans The Bridal Shower? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Alma:

Hi, I have 5 bride maids which live in another country and one maid of honour, which lives in the same city I do.

I do not expect much in terms of planning from my bride maids because they are so far away and they can barely make it for the day at all. My maid of honour has the craziest job and is vitually unavailable unless I ask her for something well in advance. I am getting married in June of next year, should I expect anyone to throw a bridal shower or is that simply has to be arranged by the bride? if no one organizes it- will I just not have one?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Alma, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  It is the role of the Maid of Honour to plan and execute the Bridal Shower.

My suggestion to you is to sit down with her and ask her what she plans to do.  Ask some cousins or other family members to assist your Maid of Honour if she needs help.  Parents can help make the guest list.  She should be planning this event, but with no "helpers" from the bridal party near, she will probably be thankful for other family members or friends to step in and help her.

For those who take part, give them a special table at the reception or thank them in some way that shows you appreciate their support in planning your wedding.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to email again.
