How Early Can I Make My Wedding Centrepieces? Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Joanna:

I really want to add lime slices to my wedding centerpieces against the edge of the vase, also sea shells at the bottom, I would also add a single white rose to the vase; is it possible to make the centerpieces a few days before the wedding before the water starts turning yellowish or the lime turning bad?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Joanna, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Your centrepiece idea sounds lovely, but the best way to see how well it will work is to do one now and see how long it lasts.

Limes are an interesting fruit as it can "cook" seafood if you soak it in lime juice.  In addition, the water in your area (minerals, chlorine, etc.) can also affect the reaction to the lime juice.  So I would suggest you make one now and see how well it stands up.  You may find you can make them even earlier than 2 days.

Good luck! and I’d like to know how it turned out.
