Love is a concept which is difficult to define, but it is something which every one of us would experience many, many times in our lives. Right from the start, humans cannot be developed such feelings. While decidedly difficult to prove, it can certainly be said that babies would developed an affinity towards their parents – biological or otherwise.

This could well be love, adults would never know, as our children could never tell whatever it was that they felt when they were growing old under the tender loving care of their parents. The attachment felt cannot be anything else, and this closeness would grow and become more pronounced even as the baby becomes more aware of his or her surroundings.

As all of us grow old, we would be more in touch with our feelings and, while we would start to love material things – books, makeup, games, musical instruments; the list is pretty much endless – there will come a time that we would encounter a similar feeling except that it is towards another person instead of things inanimate and the feelings runs much, much deeper.

To many, it could be the much highly cliché love-at-first sight, but in truth, love is something that develops over time as couples gets to know each other’s characteristics, peculiarities, likes and dislikes, dreams and fears, and a whole lot of things. It could develop really fast or it could take a long, long time, but when the time is right, couples who are in love would inevitably decide to tie the knot in a marriage ceremony.

This is almost the tradition all over the world, no matter which religious beliefs one holds dear. When the moment does arrived, it is something which everyone who is in touch and related to the soon-to-be married couples would look forward to. Much planning would go into these ceremonies. A whole range of things need to considered even for the simplest of wedding. Things like where the taking of oath would take place, the guests list, the reception afterwards, the budget needed… So much so, that it pays to rope the whole family to chip in, but take note that it should be the bride and the bridegroom who has the final say.

A simple wedding ceremony would entail the vows taken at perhaps a church for Christians, at temples for Hindus and Buddhists, mosques for Moslems, but there is without a doubt that the occasion would be followed with a reception of sorts, the simplest being a family and relatives get together at the hallowed site chosen for the ceremony.

For such a treasured occasion, however, it is doubtful that the couples opt for something wild like a full blast party. It could be planned as an extension of the ceremony to cater for the younger – perhaps, single friends from both sides – as a finale of sorts.

Such planning would also extend to the personalized wedding gifts to be presented to your partner. This is however one customs that differs from one culture to another. It could be simply the exchanging of wedding rings or something more elaborate.

One thing’s for sure is that the gifts must be something so personal that it would be unique for just the two of them. This can only be achieved if the couples know each other really well. If you are completely clueless, coax your partner into a window shopping session and see what kind of things would catch his or her attention. You would have a general idea by then, and the session is more of the personal choice in perhaps, colors, specifications, design, in other words the personal inclinations of your partner. Or you could just choose something that would surprise and delight; something so unthinkable for your couple that it would overwhelmed them completely.

Once you are deeply in love with another person, imagining something so unique would not be that difficult a thing to do. One thing for sure that is that it must be a sincere, personal gift, which comes straight from the heart.

Couples tying the knots nowadays have a relatively free rein when it comes to the way they want the ceremony held; starting with a certain wedding favors, or concept, with which they can then tailor around the other details of the event right down to the tiniest details of the food served.

Choosing a concept is easy enough, and often restrained only by the budget available to the soon-to-be wed couples. Keeping a close eye of expenses however can work wonders in having a gala of a ceremony without breaking the bank. Penny pinching in any wedding reception is always an exercise of creativity, of seeking the simplest way of doing things so that the cost is kept down. Think of it of being able to spend money where it counts.

Weddings held at hotels are by far the easiest to manage but is also one of the more expensive option to choose. Holding the ceremony at a chapel or the neighborhood church would help trim down the cost, but it could be a wee bit too restrictive where weird and funky wedding favors are concerned.

There is also the luncheon or dinner to the guests to also be considered, as unless there is enough space to hold the reception outside the church’s grounds, you would have to lease another location which would mean having to take on problems regarding logistics. Or you could just make it a simple, close-relatives only ceremony. That should save a lot of headaches.

It is also quite common nowadays for the bride and bridegroom’s families to present some sort of door gifts to the guests. The beauty of having a concept is that the couple could tailor their wedding gifts around the concept. A great play of creativity could be exercised here.

Do go some window shopping weeks before the ceremony is scheduled. There are a whole lot of small gifts which can be mix and match to become unique wedding gifts which reminds the guests to you wedding exactly who it was from.

Consider having a two-generation kind of gifts – one item for the parents and another for the younger ones accompanying them. Do not assume there would be none as children adds life and cheeriness to the proceedings. Surely the couple’s kid brother and sister would want to join in the fun.

Have something made for them. It doesn’t need to be expensive. Perhaps a small paper bag filled with chocolate and sweets, for example. Photo frames might be cheap, but having your image etched in one corner of it would make a fantastic gift. Planned ahead so that you could estimate how much exactly you need to spend on such gifts.

Soap – carved into easily identifiable shapes related, for example, to the venue – is another idea, but do not be too particular about getting it 100 percent spot on, unless you are willing to stop at a gift for a single guest.
