Hairstyle Questions – Ask The Expert Answer

Hi, Do you know a good hair stylist who can come to my location? I am marrying in Toronto.

Can I ask one more question? If my dress has a lot of sequinces. I am going to have my hair half way up with an elbow veil. Should I have headband or pins or nothing?

Hi Niloo. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Without knowing the length of your hair, how you have it cut, etc., it is difficult for me to give you specific advice. Saying that, I do have an answer for you.

Toronto has many hairstylists. I suggest you use someone you are comfortable with. It is very common for a bride to "test" her wedding hairstyle a few months before the wedding. At this time, your hairstylist can advise you on headband, pins, etc.

If you do not have a regular hairstylist, check your yellow pages for wedding stylists, or check your local wedding show organization for salons that specialize in wedding hairstyling.

Garden Theme Wedding: An Evening Affair Under The Stars

Many brides dream of having a garden theme wedding, within the lush private grounds of their parents backyards or perhaps onsite at famous botanical gardens. It is a wonderful way to use the splendors of nature to create a special mood for the ceremony. Beautiful garden bursting with colorful and exotic blooms, wedding guests dressed in casual elegance and the sun shining brightly on the bride and groom. It all sounds so glorious but what many couples don’t realize is that an evening affair with a garden theme wedding is equally as spectacular. Instead of the sun, you have the moon and millions of twinkling stars lighting up the night air.

If you are going to be using a garden arbor as your ceremonial alter, make sure you cover it with fresh, fragrant flower blooms and add light garlands so that it lights up the night sky! It is important that everyone at the wedding can see the bride and groom during the ceremony and this can be a little tricky sometimes with a nighttime ceremony. Create a walkway of wedding luminaries by placing them on either side of the aisle from start to finish. You can also use the fairy garland light sets to add sparkle to hedges, shrubs and the back of the house. It is also a lovely way to create a practical path to areas such as washrooms, parking lots and the bar.

Be sure to add plenty of real or silk flower petals down your aisle runner to carry on the garden wedding theme, and perhaps tie off your chair bows or aisle tulle with fresh sprigs of lavender from the garden. One of the lovely aspects about a garden wedding is that you can release lovebirds or doves at the ceremony. Keep in mind that although you can release butterflies at a daytime garden wedding, butterflies can only be released in full sunlight, as they will not fly at night. Instead, consider giving each guest a glow stick or sparkler to cheer on the happy couple following the ceremony – that would be a fun twist! If you are in a rural setting, fireworks are also a spectacular way to make the transition from ceremony to reception and your wedding guests will ooh and ahh!

For the wedding ceremony, subtle touches, decorations and accessories can remind guests of the garden wedding theme. A floral themed flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow; a garden tiara for the bride; hand wrapped floral arrangements for the bridal party fresh from the garden and glass flower holders filled with confetti are all great ways to continue the garden wedding theme.

For the reception, table settings can include small floral arrangements in glass vases on each table, flower accent place cards and place card holders shaped like watering cans or little metal garden pails would be fun! For a more sophisticated look, a tulip in silver flowerpot place card holder would be ideal! Add fresh flower sprigs to the cake and gift tables and as a final touch, sprinkle flower petals can be sprinkled on the dance floor. These are the little theme touches that your wedding guests will admire and remember.

For many couples, they choose a backyard or garden wedding theme because it is the most economical. Luckily, for very little money you can accessorize and decorate your wedding and reception and carry on the garden theme.

Each and every bride looks forward to her wedding day. This is the one special day where she needs to look her very best; the bride should appear elegant, neat and well-groomed from head-to-toe, as she will be the centre of attraction when the time comes for her to walk down the aisle.

Every detail of the whole bridal ensemble should reflect the joy and happiness felt by the beautiful bride such as the magnificent wedding gown and stunning bridal accessories she wears. Even what she puts on her head is a crucial detail that needs to be taken into consideration when planning for the wedding. How do you go about selecting that perfect bridal headpiece you will be wearing on your wedding day?

Bridal headpieces can either be ornate and elaborated, such as a five-foot long cathedral length veil with a pearl and diamond studded wedding tiara, or it can also be simple and minimal as a flower wreath or a hat decorated with a satin bow. Most importantly is that no matter what kind of headpiece you choose, it should complement the style of your bridal gown. The frame of the wedding tiara can be made of plated metallic wire, sterling silver, or expensive materials such as gold and platinum. The frames are embellished with precious and semi-precious stones, crystals, pearls or rhinestones and they come in various designs, shapes and sizes.

Wedding tiaras must look stunning and elegant yet not too flashy that it can overshadow the other bridal accessories the bride is wearing. It must also suit the hairstyle that you will be wearing and also your facial structure. It must not bee too big and overstated, nor too small that it can hardly be seen. And finally, it should complement the style and formality of your bridal gown and other bridal accessories.

If you are planning to have a semi-to-informal wedding reception such as a garden wedding, it is better to choose some rather informal bridal headpieces. Again, depending on the factors mentioned earlier, a floral wreath, fresh or artificial flower crowns or clusters and baby’s breath, are among the options. Add details such as satin ribbons and bows to complete the whole look. Other than that, there are also brides who choose to wear silk or lace headbands decorated with pearls or beads; crescent bands and backpieces which are very suitable for up-do hairstyles; a rhinestone-studded French comb that sits in the hair; a barrette or straw hat; or a more retro-style Juliet cap decorated with beads, lace or flowers.

Whatever your choice is, make sure you pick the bridal headpiece that you love. Even though something looks nice and pretty in the display shelf, it does not mean it will look nice should you match it up to the wrong gown or hairstyle or it does not match you facial features. You should feel beautiful and gorgeous when putting them on and furthermore, they should fit comfortably and looks good on your head.
