Cinderella wedding theme – a story of exquisite embroidery

How many times have you spring cleaned your closet and came across different drawings of you and your handsome dashing prince on a horse, waving goodbye at your lowly subjects? How many times have you smiled looking at those pictures, wistfully wishing of a fairy-tale wedding? Girls do not just want to have fun, but girls too, love fantasizing about their wedding. In fact, one of girls’ favourite childhood games is ‘The Wedding Game’.

There would be a young, unwilling groom who happened to be just the boy passing by or the girl’s younger brother, the bride herself, with exquisitely-embroidered curtains draping her waist and her mother’s old high heel grazing her tiny feet, a bouquet of wild weeds and of course little girlfriends with shredded papers, ready to send off the little couple for the honeymoon.

This little game has undoubtedly been inspired by too much reading and watching of fairy-tales such as ‘Cinderella’, ‘Snow White’ and to a slightly abnormal extent, ‘Shrek’. So, if your nuptial is coming up and you are still racking your brains and having insomniac nights thinking of a theme for your special day, why not satisfy those childhood fantasies and host a Cinderella-themed wedding? With a proper planning and a little bit of hard work, the day of your union with your beloved one could be the greatest day of your life.

Choosing the Right Colors

Colors are extremely crucial in planning a wedding, as these colors would determine the right mood and tone for your wedding. For a fairy-tale-experience, try using pastel colors such as baby blue, light pink or pale purple or diamond white to set a dreamy ambience. However, you could also use some royal colors such as deep purple and royal red just to add some royal flavor to your wedding.

Groom’s Attire and Accessories

Nowadays, the groom is usually decked in a nice, classic back tuxedo. However, if you wish to be a little extravagant in realizing your imagination, have your knight in shining armor wear light slacks, a velvet jacket and a maroon or royal fur-trimmed cloak draping his shoulders with of course, a crown on his head. If possible, have the groom slip a sword around his waist. In this spectacular outfit, your prince charming would not just charm his waiting bride, but also most of his female subjects!

Bride’s Attire and Accessories

The crux of a woman’s wedding dream has always been the beautiful wedding gown. Hence, to complement the theme, wear silk gown in the soft color of your choice with exquisite embroidery along the hem of the gown. For a more dazzling effect, have little diamond studs sewn to the embroidery, which would definitely highlight the embroidery along the hemline. For tiaras, choose a simple yet elegant-looking one and pair it up with a long, sweeping veil.  The veil could be an embroidered one, but remember, you must keep it simple and sweet. After all, a princess has to be modest yet demure in her dressing; so play your part well and you would definitely be remembered as the sweetest princess ever!

Bridesmaids, Flower Girls and Ring Bearer

Have your bridesmaids (a.k.a. lady-in-waiting) and little flower girls dressed in a simple silk or satin gown of a pastel color. These bridesmaids and flower girls should have flowers on their heads, or wear crowns made of colorful flowers. Place a special importance on your flowers girls, as they could also be doubled up as your little fairies. Provide your adorable flower girls with wings and little baskets filled with sweet-smelling fresh flowers. For a male ring-bearer, you could just dress him up in a black suit or a tuxedo. The most essential thing when it comes to the ring-bearer is of course, the rings. Place your wedding rings on a small velvet pillow and instruct the bearer to carry it on a beautiful but petite antique silver tray for a touch of elegance and class.

Wedding Backdrop and Special Knick-Knacks

A perfect Cinderella Wedding would be held at mansions or castles, but with the right dose of creativity and imagination, you could turn just any space into a fairytale kingdom. In preparing your own magical land, try to sprinkling some magic into your wedding by having these things:

-Water-Fountain
-Rose petals scattered on the floor
