Everyone loves a party and one can almost always find a good reason for celebration. Birthdays, Christmas, thanksgiving parties, homecoming parties or just plain old ordinary parties that you feel like throwing sometimes for no good reason other than just wanting to let loose and have some fun. And of course, for a future bride-to-be, one of the most exciting parties she could have will be her bridal shower.
Traditionally, bridal showers originated from the west, and are primarily practiced in the United States and Canada. Although it is a western culture, that is not to say you can’t have a bridal shower if you wanted, even if you are not from the west. Bridal showers are a great way for the bride’s closest and best friends, companions and family to get together and celebrate, just the girls alone, before the bride goes off to begin her new life as a married woman. Call it her last party as a single woman.
During the bridal shower, all the women get together just to have fun, play bridal shower games, party a little and give gifts to the bride. The bridal shower is usually the maid of honor’s responsibility, and she will be in charge of everything from the planning preparations, to the guest list, and basically every last detail of the party. She will engineer the whole event, and like every other party, there are quite a number of supplies the maid of honor is going to need to ensure that the bridal shower is a success.
The maid of honor is usually the bride’s best friend and therefore the maid of honor would be the one who knows the bride best of all. She would know what kind of personality the bride and the rest of her friends have and what sort of party she would like her bridal shower to be. So the bridal shower can be planned any way she wants to, anything goes in this case. But no matter what kind of party it is going to turn out to be, the bridal shower supplies that the maid of honor is going to need are going to be the same basic things as if she were throwing any other party.
To make things easier, the bridal shower supplies that will be needed on that day can be divided into two categories – before and during the party. Before the party, the bridal shower supplies that need to be taken care of are first and foremost, the invitation cards. Because you can’t have a party if there aren’t any guests now, can you? So invitation cards would be the main supplies she would need, followed closely by decorations. If budget is not a problem, then the maid of honor could actually hire a decorator. Or if she were a creative person that likes to experiment with her creativity, she might even have a go at decorating the venue herself. She would also need to make sure banners are part of the decoration, because the banners are usually the give-away as to what sort of party is going on at a location.
The bridal shower supplies which the maid of honor needs to make sure are all set and ready to go on the day of the event are the food and drink, some simple games to be played at the party, little party favors for the guests and perhaps some little thank-you notes for the guests although those are optional. Again like the decorations, she could choose to either cater the food if budget is not an issue or if she were the culinary type, she could even choose to cook the food herself, just so the party is even more meaningful. The bride would be touched knowing that her best friend went through all that trouble just for her.
The games could be just simple board games that can be purchased at the store, or even online. There are a number of pretty decent websites that offer bridal shower games for sale and you can take your pick and select the ones you would like to have at the party. So that’s one headache relieved. The bridal shower favors are not a cause for alarm either. They could be just small, simple items to be given away to the guests, just to thank them for coming.
So those are the basic bridal shower supplies that every maid of honor needs to have taken care of – invitations, decorations, banner, food and drink, games, party favors and thank you notes (optional). It can be a lot to do for one person, so the maid of honor could get a few other people t pitch in, and when all the supplies are ready and waiting, then the bridal shower is all set to be a success.
