Question from Julie:
Hello, I was wondering how to use our wedding cake as a love story on how we met. The 3 big themes focus on the bay area in Northern California, to
Germany, to Paris. How do we tie it all in? Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:
Hi Julie, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. What an interesting idea you have for your wedding themes!
How about a three tier cake, with each layer having a picture(s) of one of the places that were part of your love story? This picture could be like a band that wraps around the cake—one layer would be for Paris, one for Germany, etc. Your options to pull this off would be to use a paper or ribbon band around each tier with the picture on it. You could also have someone airbrush or paint the picture onto your cake. You would have to contact an artist or a professional cake designer to have this done.
My suggestion would be to use a wide ribbon the width of your cake layer, have it cut to the right length, and have an artist paint the picture. Or, if you had appropriate computer software, you could even use real photos you have, and make a montage that can be printed onto transfer paper, and then ironed onto the ribbon (or printed onto the paper).
You will notice that the use of various width ribbon on each layer of a wedding cake is quite popular right now, so having a wide ribbon with pictures on it is not that difficult to accomplish. Don’t forget to choose an appropriate wedding cake topper to finish off your unique wedding cake.
