DIY Favor Supplies

DIY Wedding Favors

DIY Favor Supplies For The Crafty Bride

While some brides leave everything to the wedding planner and suppliers, there are those who prefer to be more hands-on. Crafty brides in particular prefer to turn wedding essentials into DIY projects. A very good example of these is the wedding favors. Making your own wedding favors don’t only ensure that you have unique and original items to give away to the guests, it also allows you to save a great deal of money. All you have to spend for are the DIY favor supplies, which as you can imagine don’t cost half of what wedding favors cost. Here are some of those that you should get hold of.

Favor tags

This is one of the most essential favor supplies that you should have. After all, no wedding favor would be complete without the tag that shows the details of the wedding including the couple’s name and the date and venue of the celebration. Personalized favor tags are suitable for DIY wedding favors. You can have them customized using your own design or choose among a variety of designs that would best reflect you and your beau’s personality and taste. Of course, your message should come from the heart. Instead of just putting the word “thanks”, include a short but sweet personal message for the guests.

Mint tins

Mint tins are versatile items that could be used in a hundred and one ways. For one, you can put in here sweet edibles like candies and chocolates and wrap it with tulle or handmade paper before handing out to the guests. You also have the choice to put in something that smells nice like potpourri or aromatherapy candle. Or you can go for the usual mints, which are what these tins usually contain, that’s why they’re called as such. Be sure to add a customized label sticker on top of the tin can.

Boxes

Like the mint tins, there is also a wide array of uses for boxes. This packaging idea is great because it’s suitable for any favor you can think of. For example, you can collect family recipes and then print them out on tiny cards that you can place inside each of the boxes. Another is to put in chocolate balls and other edible goodies inside the box. You may also put in here a faux jewelry or any other souvenir object like a Swiss army knife, keychain, button pin, or personalized pen. Decorate the box creatively and add a personalized favor tag before you give the favor to the guests.

Decorative embellishments

There’s an assortment of wonderful accents to use for your wedding favors. Explore your artistic side and experiment with these craft supplies until you’re able to whip up a nice packaging for your wedding favor. Some of the crafty bride’s favorite craft supplies include baker’s twine, raffia ribbon, string tags, wooden rectangular chalkboards with clip, chipboard hearts, wooden clothespins, flower felt shapes,  eyelets, snaps, rhinestone shapes and letters, floral accents, lucky coins, chain ribbon, confetti, bridal tissue, satin ribbon, organdy ribbon, rayon trimming ribbon, wooden charms, tulle spool, snowflake accents, rubber stamp, feathered boa, monogram stickers, colorful paper clips, mini bouquets, and many more.

Just looking at this list will already give you plenty of ideas on how to use each of them for prettifying the wedding favors. For example, the favor box can be decorated with flower felt shapes, rhinestone shapes and letters and floral accents. You can add the monogram stickers to the favor cards for personalization. If you’re giving away potted plants, you can wrap tulle or organdy ribbon around the pot. If you choose wine wedding favors, you can wrap a feathered boa around the bottle to make it more visually appealing.

Of course, just because there are lots of craft supplies available in the market, it doesn’t mean that you need to use all of them. Remember, you’re creating a favor for your wedding day, not a Christmas tree. You don’t want to go overboard with the decoration and packaging. Consulting a bridal coach can help you on this matter. You may also check out packaging ideas in magazines and wedding blogs and websites.

Exotic Cocktails for your Beach Wedding Receptions

dreamstime_10458482Exotic Cocktails

One great thing about beach wedding receptions is its fun and laid back nature. You can let your hair down, walk barefooted on the sand, dance whimsically under the moonlight, and have fun with the wonderful ocean scenery as your backdrop. Another thing that many people love about this is of course, the flavorful cocktails that can truly make you have the time of your life.

For those getting married in a beach setting soon and those who want extra-special and out-of-the-ordinary cocktail drinks for the reception, here are some ideas to keep in mind:

Strawberry Basil Martini – Sweet Tangy Herbal Infusion

This cocktail drink, inspired by Jamie Walker, Global Ambassador for Bombay Sapphire Gin, is the perfect drink for those looking for something that is sweet and tangy with a hint of flavorful herb. To make this, mix 1 oz. gin, 1/4 oz. strawberry liqueur, 1 oz. white cranberry juice in a cocktail shaker. Add 3 halved strawberries, 3 squeeze of limejuice and 3 basil leaves. Mix it up. Add lots of ice, shake and then double strain and put into a chilled martini glass.

Jamaica Margarita – Reggae-ing to the Max

For this unique drink, you need to have 1 cup of dried hibiscus blossoms placed into a strainer and rinsed. Combine these blossoms with 3 cups of water, and 2 cups of sugar into a saucepan and then bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain and discard the flowers. Chill the hibiscus mixture and then add to 1 ¼ cups of tequila, ½ cup fresh lime juice and 1/3 cup of any orange flavored liqueur. Garnish the drink with lime slices.

Cranberry Margarita – Tequila with a Twist

Tequila drinks are always great to have in parties. But if you are looking for something different, you would probably love this exciting Cranberry Margarita. To make this, combine 1 and ½ shots Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila, 1 shot cranberry juice cocktail, ¼ cup whole cranberry sauce, ½ shot Cointreau, and ice in a blender. Blend until you get a smooth and frothy mixture. Pour the drink into a margarita glass and garnish with cranberry and lime slices.

Sangria – Drink with a Touch of Delight

For Sangria, you will need to have one bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja reds, Zinfandel, Shiraz) and then pour this into a pitcher. Squeeze in one lemon and one orange, both cut into wedges. Add the wedges but remove the seeds first. Add 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 shot brandy. Chill overnight. Add 2 cups of ginger ale or club soda before serving. You can serve this pre-chilled or with ice. For a touch of delight, you can add in fruits like strawberries, peaches, blueberries or kiwi.

Here are some more tips on how to have fun with the cocktail drinks for your beach wedding reception:

  1. Have a tasting bar that would showcase you and your partner’s favorite cocktail flavors. Offer the drinks in shooters so guests can have a try of the different types.
  2. Ask the guests to try their own flavor and experiment with the drinks with the help of an expert bartender.
  3. Match the signature drinks to the theme of the wedding. For example, the Jamaican cocktail would be perfect for a reggae-inspired theme wedding.

The beach wedding can surely be the perfect way to celebrate your love and union. Make this event complete with servings of exciting exotic cocktails for you and the guests to enjoy.

Wrap Up Your Wedding Day With Personalized Ribbons

Wrap up your day the right way with personalized wedding ribbons. You can make any statement on your favours, flowers and decorations by using special wedding ribbons.

Favours are recognized at the reception usually by the pretty wedding ribbons. Usually personalized wedding ribbons are affixed to the favours so guests always remember the moment. Jordan almonds or a bottle of wine is tied around the top with ribbon from the new Mr. and Mrs. A mini die cut ribbon looks adorable wrapped around a small treasure chest bearing candies.

Many couples release helium balloons at their wedding to celebrate the moment they tie the knot. Whether an adult or child, everyone loves to play with balloons at a party and take them home when it ends. Cut long strips of colourful, standard curling ribbon so everyone can grab a balloon and have a great time.

You can make special magic wands to give out at your wedding, made from joy, cherish, love, hope, faith ribbon and hollow craft wands. Use pinking shears to cut long trips of the ribbon and a glue gun to secure them to the wands. Your guests can wave the wands after your wedding and take them home as a keepsake.

Floral arrangements are personalized with pretty wedding ribbons. A bow made from a mini flower chain die cut ribbon looks darling tucked under a floral arrangement. Streamers hanging from your floral arrangements made from today I married by best friend ribbons make a happy statement about your love. A sheer organza ribbon looks breathtaking around a bouquet of wildflowers.

Unique wedding ribbons on the gifts to your wedding party make them extra special. A “we’ve tied the knot” ribbon around each gift will remind the guests of how much they helped you get to that special moment.

Ribbons can be used to decorate your reception area. Tie them around any place that looks boring or plain. Poles are brought to life in halls. Shrubs are more noticeable at garden weddings. Add colour with wedding ribbons wherever it is needed.

Your tables are more elegant with personalized wedding ribbon at each place setting. Wrap ribbon around napkins or the base of candleholders. Have a large, framed photo of the bride and groom at each table with a gros grain ribbon tied around the base.

Wedding ribbons are a fun way to express yourselves on your once in a lifetime day.

Eco-Friendly Wedding Details

RSS wedding buzz, source: http://greenweddingshoes.blogspot.com/2009/08/eco-friendly-wedding-details.html

A few months ago I helped photographer Sabine Scherer promote her Eco-Contest. Free wedding photograhy for a creative wedding that is also eco-conscious. And, not only is this wedding both of those, but it is also budget friendly! Hopefully these photos and descriptions will help provide some ideas to incorporate into your day. A lot of these ideas are easy to do. Thanks so much for sharing the results Sabine!

From Sabine, I loved that they had a basket on the bench with them during the ceremony with all the pictures of the loved ones that could not join them. The wedding took place at the beautiful Leonard Lake in northern California.

Frankly, I think all ceremonies should end with a canoe ride. How cool is that! I agree!

When you drove up to the Lake houses you were welcomed with a little packet (printed on recycled paper of course) that had all the information of where the guests were staying. These were tied to the tree with twine and clothespins. Very cute. All the jars you see were collected from thrift stores, craigslist and friends. To fill all these jars Regina & Tim made their own soy candles (much friendlier than your average paraffin candle) and got flowers that were local and in season.

This was a brilliant idea – Regina & Tim did not want to go through a ton of glassware, so everyone wrote their name (with twig pencils) on a label attached to mason jars. This way guests only used one glass for water & lemonade throughout the evening. I wanted to do the same thing at my own wedding – hence its so brilliant! The table runners were from burlap sacks Regina and Tim collected from a local coffee roaster and can be composted after the wedding. Apparently the leftovers were used for sack races. Too bad I missed that part of the weekend.

All the food was local organic seasonal food. And the bread was to die for! To top it all off the beef came from the fields right next to Leonard Lake Road. It doesn’t get much more local than that. All of the wine and beer served were also local and organic. The beer came in kegs so not to have too many bottles to recycle. To wrap it all up, at the end of the night they used compostable corn plates for the pie.

And to top it all off Regina & Tim went on an eco-friendly honeymoon at Suenos Tulum, Tulum Mexico!

Thanks so much Sabine! And the contest was such a success that she wil be offering it again in a few months, so if you want some free wedding photography and are planning a green wedding – or maybe this has provided some ideas! – make sure you keep checking her blog. I will also let you know when the contest starts. I really love how it turned it. And, Sabine is getting married this week – at the same location!! Congrats to you and your new husband!! Can’t wait to see your photos.

Open Bar Vs Cash Bar For My Wedding Reception – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Nannette:

Hi, my fiancee and I are paying for our wedding ourselves. We were thinking of having a twoonie bar at the reception to cut some of the cost. Is this tacky?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Nannette, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Having a cash bar at a wedding is considered poor etiquette.  There are others ways in which to reduce your bar costs.  This video talks about the etiquette of hosting a wedding and covers cash bars, and wedding budgets.

One way to reduce costs is to use ‘bar brand’ alcohol instead of ‘premium brand’.  Another way is to shake things up a bit, and do something completely different.  How about creating one or two ‘signature cocktails’ named after the bride and groom, and having them as the only alcohol at the bar, and supplying some flavoured coffees and teas instead.  This can reduce your liquor bill by 1/2.  You would still have wine for your meal, and a couple of cocktails for your guests to choose from.  With imaginative names for the cocktails, you can add your personality into the reception, and reduce your liquor bill at the same time.

If you are an eco-friendly couple, or into healthy living, you might consider no alcohol (other than the wine at the meal), and have a smoothie bar or drinks similar to the selection at Booster Juice.

From an etiquette point of view, only wine (2 bottles per table of 8) is considered required for good etiquette.  After that, whatever you choose for your guests is up to you.

Good luck and feel free to email again if you have questions.

Candle Favours Selections are amazing nowadays

Candle Wedding FavoursThere are huge selections of candle favours nowadays. Candles can come in all shapes. Most candles are shaped like pears with a matching lemon scent that smells refreshing, and they come with an attractive votive. Some are heart shaped with the smell of roses or lavender. These candles often come prettily packaged in elegant transparent plastic boxes. There are some candles decorated with stones; they appear stylish and chic.

You can also present your guests with a box of wine candles with a bottle of wine as compliments to them. Or, you have the option of giving them coffee scented candles in mini ceramic coffee cups. These coffee candles are perfect to be placed in a coffee table.

Scented candle wedding favours also come in small candle jars. They look convenient and their scent lasts longer than the ones exposed. Some candles are given away to guests in a colorful organza bag. These bags are also used to preserve the scents of these candles.

How Do I Choose A Wedding Theme? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Apple:

Hi Angela!  I’m planning to get married on 2010 spring or summer time.  Would you please suggest theme and motif? Thank you so much!

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  When choosing a theme, you have so many choices.  The first thing to decide is do you want to have a theme that represents you as a couple?  or do you want a theme that is contemporary, or traditional?

Once you decide that, your wedding reception venue should, as much as possible, reflect that choice.  I suggest you check out the wedding favours that are available to you.  It is a great place to get ideas for a theme, because they all represent one theme or another.  For example, if you and your fiance love fine wine, you can create a wine theme with bottle stopper wedding favours, a nice selection of wine for each table, wine colour decor, maybe a central flower display with bubbles in the water to represent a nice champagne, etc.  The possibilities are endless.

Maybe you want to go elegant or traditional.  If so, you need to decide how traditional you want to go.  Are you going to medieval traditions, or contemporary traditions?  Will you serve mead, and talk about how the wedding traditions are there to fool the "evil spirits", or are you going to just have a classic, neutral decor and have family traditions instead?

If you view the Wedding Categories on the right (scroll down), you will find many posts under theme weddings, with examples of the most common themes.

Good Luck.  Remember, you don’t NEED a theme, and sometimes a colour "theme" is sufficient.  The best theme you can have is something that reflects the style and personality of you and your fiance, that tells you guests more about who you are.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to email again.

Where Can I Get Things For A Gothic Wedding? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Lisa:

I am looking for favors, invitations, gifts and reception decorations for a gothic wedding or halloween wedding.  Can you suggest somewhere I can find this stuff?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Lisa, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  I have yet to see a wedding store with a gothic section, but I do get many requests for this.  All hope is not lost.  Most wedding shops have items that can work to create a gothic theme.

A search through the fall wedding favours will give you some halloween choices, and you might also consider the black and white themed wedding favours.  I suggest you browse through the pages of wedding favours, as each category has something that you might consider.  For example, under Elegant Wedding Favours, you can find mini black satin photo albums, black and silver bottle stoppers that look much like a "stake", and a set of black and white mint boxes.  Under Unique Wedding Favours, you can find the "Cheers to a Great Combination" Wine Set that has black packaging with a silver corkscrew and bottle stopper.  Each page has something that you might adapt to fit your personality and style.

For wedding invitations, there are many to choose from including season parties and non-wedding invitations.

Wedding reception decorations are easily found, but depending upon your vision for your wedding, you may want to find a party store that caters to season parties for halloween items. As for wedding gifts, I suggest you try this link.

Depending upon the colours you are having for your wedding (say black and red), there are lots of red and black wedding favours.  There are hundreds of candle wedding favours, and candles are synonymous with gothic.  I suggest choosing the colours that you want with your theme first, as it will help you with the rest of your choices.

Enjoy shopping!

What Wedding Favours Do You Suggest For The Men? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Maeve:

My colours are black and cream, I am going mad as I do not have a clue what to give male guests for favours.  I have the female guests sorted to match colour scheme, but I really don’t want to do the miniature alcohol thing, I want something unusual.  Please help.

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Maeve, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  This link will take you to a site that has many wedding favours that you can choose from.  There are different ways to give out wedding favours.  Sometimes, wedding favours are purchased in sets for each couple, and single people get a set also.  Sometimes, everyone attending the wedding gets the same wedding favour.  Sometimes, as in your case, you have separate wedding favours for the women and the men.

You might consider wine wedding favours for the men.  The link will give you an assortment of wine bottle stoppers, but there are also bottle openers, wine-themed coasters, and a variety of other wine themed items.  If you search the practical wedding favours, you will find items like the chrome luggage tag, the leather key chain, a variety of letter openers, and many more items.  There are golf wedding favours, eco-friendly wedding favours, and cocktail wedding favours to name just a few.  There are many wedding favours to choose from, so enjoy looking through them all.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email again.

Wedding Colours – How Do You Put A Look Together From A Bridal Bouquet? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Bailey:

I have fallen in love with the bouquet that was on the front of real weddings a couple of months back.  I know its probably not the best idea to base the wedding around that bouquet, but I love it!!  It was purples, blues, oranges and maybe some blue.  I really love the pomegranate colour for my bridesmaids and I want to have a plain strapless dress with a cathedral veil and a pomegranate sash.  Do these colours work together?  What could I use as an accent colour for the bridesmaids?  What are some centre piece ideas?  and with this colour, what time of year should I have the wedding??  Thanks a bunch!!

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Bailey, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Let’s start with your colour choices.  Red-orange (pomegranate) and blue-green are complimentary colours (opposite each other on the colour wheel).  Hence, they go well together.  Blues and Purple are harmonious colours (next to each other on the colour wheel) and look wonderful together.  I would suggest punches of  pomegranate coloured flowers with your blues and purples in your bouquet.  This combination of blue, purple and pomegranate could then move into your total colour scheme for the wedding.  Your bridesmaids could have accent colours of blue and purple with the pomogranate.  I would suggest using both those colours (blue and purple) as opposed to only one of the colours, as it will have a more put together look, based on your bouquet.  Wedding table centrepieces would benefit from all three colours also.

I saw that bouquet you mentioned, and it is very beautiful, so I am not surprised at your desire to have it for your wedding.  I would suggest you visit your florist with the picture of the bouquet, and find out what flowers they can use that match those colour tones.  You might find alternative flowers that are just as beautiful as those flowers, at a less costly price.  Then you need to ask the florist when those flowers you choose are in-season.  In-season flowers are cheaper than bringing in out-of-season flowers, so depending upon your flower choices and your budget, that should decide the seaons for you.  The colours you are interested in are perfect for any season.

A plain strapless wedding dress with a cathedral veil and pomegranate sash sounds beautiful.  When you are going for simple elegance in your wedding dress, I would suggest dressing it up with a pearl necklace, and possibly a tiara to contribute to an overall look of elegance.  If a wedding dress is more elaborate, then the jewellery needs to be more simple.

There are many ways to go when coming up with centrepiece ideas—-almost all of them depend upon your budget.  Flowers are an obvious choice, and can be in a single vase, floating in water with candles or clustered in a multitude of vases destined for each guest.  If you want to move away from the obvious, I saw a gorgeous centrepiece made with dead branches, painted white, and strung with faux crystals and ribbons in the wedding colours.  There are so many choices, and they are limited only by your imagination.  Have you looked at all the choices you have for wedding decorations?

Depending upon the wedding favours that you choose, that too can make a statement in your decor without the need to purchase other decorations.  For example, the bride and groom wine bottle stoppers are a whimsical touch, and having your wine grouped in the centre of the table with these bottle stoppers would make a great centrepiece.  The bottle stoppers can then be given away to the guests through a simple "game" like which couple at the table have been married the longest.  Looking through the wedding favours will give you more ideas of what you can do to decorate your tables.

Unusual Wedding Gifts: Give the Unexpected

unusual9.jpgWhen the gifts are being opened, watch the bride and groom’s face as they open their fourth toaster oven, sixth set of steak knives, and twentieth set of wine glasses (none of which match the other nineteen pairs). The frozen smile on their faces will say it all – thank you but what the heck were you thinking when you bought this wedding gift… don’t you know us at all? Unusual wedding gifts are more welcome than you might think and if you dare to give the unexpected, you will be rewarded with genuine smiles from the newlywed couple that will make your heart warm.

What about T-shirts that say “GROOM under new management” for him and “It’s All About ME” for her. Wrap the t-shirts up inside two huge heart shaped helium balloons that they must pop to get their gifts – what fun and how unusual!

“Mr. + Mrs.” Bathrobes with a gift certificate for a couples massage in the comfort of their own home would definitely be high on the list of unusual wedding gifts. However, any couple would enjoy this romantic extravagance, especially after all the stress and exhaustion planning the wedding.

If you make wine or know the couple is a lover of wine, how about a two section wine carry bag in shocking pink and a wine gift set. Top the gift off with two bottles of unusual or rare wine and a bunch of funny bride and groom wedding party bottle holders. The rare and unusual wine, perhaps from Australia, South Africa or Chile will be appreciated, the wine carry case can be kept as a keepsake and used over and over again, and the fun bits are just for laughs!

unusual7.jpgIf the couple is saving to purchase their first home together, how about bride and groom piggy banks, filled with lucky pennies to get them started. This is an inexpensive way to do up a fun and unusual wedding gift that the couple will enjoy and you will be proud to give. If you don’t want to appear like a cheapskate, include a “dream home” donation check. Who knows – maybe if the piggybanks are out at the wedding and reception, other guests will follow suit and the lucky couple will be well on their way to that new house down payment!

Don’t let anyone tell you that unusual wedding gifts are a bad thing – especially at large weddings and most especially if the couple does not have a bridal registry and you are left to your own devices to find the perfect wedding gift – choose something unique, unexpected and wonderful!

Wedding Gifts the Bride and Groom will Actually Use

weddinggifts4.jpgNo matter what brand or fancy knobs it has, you can only use so many wedding gifts that come in the form of toasters, crock pots, blenders or other small appliances.  Wedding gifts are some of the trickiest things to purchase in the realm of gift giving as the givers want to be practical, but they want their offering to be appreciated.  Even with registries, redundancy is unavoidable and every wedding has at least one bachelor Uncle who had his secretary or girlfriend pick out a gift the afternoon before, or worse, the morning of, making repetition almost a sure bet.

How about giving wedding gifts that the bride and groom might actually use?  Sure, they will use the toaster or blender, but chances are, if they receive three, two of them will end up being: Re-gifted, stored in the attic or end up in a yard sale at some point.  By thinking “outside the box” and focusing on practical gifts that every young couple will eventually use, you can make sure that what you give will be appreciated and remembered.

When you think in terms of practical gifts, as opposed to one or two major items, you also are helping them (whether they know it or not) to prepare for their life together.  Practical wedding gifts not only will be used over and over, they also will show the newlyweds what they need to purchase on their own at some point to ensure they can handle any household task that comes their way.  There is nothing wrong with buying that toaster, but no couple can live on toast alone and virtually no one needs more than one toaster at a time.

An urban 1 section wine carry bag in faux black or pink leather filled with 2 bottles of chardonnay would be an excellent gift that is surely to be used and enjoyed. How about premium java vacuum traveler mugs in his and her colors. Other possible ideas include a silver plate and leather travel clock for the couple on the go, or a crystal cube photo frame for the sentimental duo, filled with photos of their time together.

weddinggifts2.jpgOne wedding gift idea is to give the couple tools or other household project items that will inevitably come in handy.  Every household, even for those who rent, needs from time to time a hammer, set of screwdrivers, flashlight or a wrench.  A box of indispensable items, like light bulbs, tape (duct, electrical, scotch and painter’s will do), screws, nails, crazy glue (or some other stronger than usual glue,) and emergency candles will come in handy repeatedly.  Put them in a small utility toolbox and your friends will be prepared for whatever household project, from hanging pictures to painting rooms to dealing with loss of power during storms comes their way.  One tip, this gift is always appreciated, but make sure that you are not giving them something they already have (a carpenter, for instance, is likely to have tools and likely to have preferences regarding what are the best brands.)

The kitchen is another place to focus your wedding gift choices.  Everyone will think about the big items (toasters, microwaves, etc.,) but what about the small everyday items that most households lack until they have a few years under their collective belts?  Giving the lucky couple everyday kitchen gadgets, like mixing bowls, storage containers, a hand held can opener, cork screw or Starfish Wine Stopper will help them delay the “I cannot believe we do not have that” moment that everyone experiences.

weddinggifts5.jpgOther practical gift ideas include a consortium of cleaning supplies, such as an all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, sponges, dish washing liquid, a bucket, mop, broom and dustpan are all items that will be used and appreciated.  Bathroom items are also useful.  Create a gift basket of pain killers, cold and flu medicine, cotton balls, swabs, band aids, soaps, hand cream, shampoo and conditioner and you have given the happy couple a collection of gifts that will be useful over and over.

You can always adhere to their requests per their registry and with some couples, if one or the other is picky, that can be the smartest option.  Gift cards to popular department, home improvement and electronics stores are also popular.  If you are truly stumped, cash is a last resort, but will come in handy over the honeymoon and in the first couple weeks of married life.

Wedding gifts do not have to be tricky or extravagant.  In fact, practical gifts will be appreciated repeatedly.  By using your life experience, you can give them gifts that will be used and appreciated as well as teach them what they need to have on hand to be prepared for virtually any situation.

Vineyard Wedding Theme

A vineyard wedding theme, if the bride and groom are wine connoisseurs, or even if they just appreciate a good bottle now and then, is a great way to mix the wedding and subsequent events with entertainment for everyone.  If you have the wedding and reception on the site of a vineyard, even your non-drinking friends will find more than enough to take in and experience as vineyards usually offer stunning landscape and bucolic settings.  The theme of a vineyard is to produce something that lets people enjoy the finer side of life while they are enjoying your day.

vineyard4.jpg The first thing to consider is the location of the wedding and reception.  The obvious first choice is a vineyard or winery with its acres of lush landscape and picturesque rows of grapes.  Such a bucolic environment is a treat for everyone and the intertwining vines make a wonderful setting for two people to make a vow to intertwine their lives together.  Many vineyards and wineries have facilities that can be rented out for weddings or receptions and a few even have spaces set aside to provide the best views possible for the exchanging of vows.

Even if you are not getting married in the summer or fall, you still can use a vineyard or winery for your vineyard wedding theme.  Many vineyards cater to events such as this and also possess a large tasting hall for events in the off season or during inclement weather.  Even if you have to move indoors, the setting as well as the environment will more than make the day.

If you do not have access to wine country, you have to be a bit more creative.  The ceremony might have to be in a more traditional setting, but there are plenty of restaurants in most cities and larger towns that cater to fine wine and many often have wine tasting events, so using them for a reception should not pose too much of a problem.  Any event location that caters to weddings also should be able to accommodate a wedding that is vineyard related.

If you live in a rural setting, there still might be some restaurants that would suffice, but if not, consider holding the wedding in a picturesque outdoors setting and having an outside reception.  This way, you can decorate the place to your liking and can adapt the environment to resemble a vineyard.  Remember that while the scenery is important the thing that makes the vineyard wedding theme is access to fine wine and food, so if you have to improvise, make sure those two facets are well covered.

Regarding decorations, any accessories and décor items such as vine decorations, or a burgundy luxury cover with gold foil print guestbook will appoint your environment elegantly.  You also can use burgundy “Perfect Pair” ribbons to tie favor boxes or other articles.  For outdoor settings a arbor is always popular for photos.

vineyard7.jpg The next thing to consider is the food and drink.  You should make sure that there is ample amounts of red, white and blush wines as well as any personal favorites so that you will have something to offer everyone.  Consider having a wine tasting instead of a cocktail hour between the ceremony and reception, which will be both elegant and informative.  If you are planning a sit-down dinner, you should also have wine on hand that matches each dish and perhaps start the meal with a toast. Don’t forget to purchase keepsake toasting flutes, available in unique themes such as diamond, interlocking hearts, and classic metal wine goblets.

One suggestion for party favors is to offer all your guests a starfish wine stopper as a memento of the occasion.  This type of gift is not only innovative; it is practical and will be a conversation starter that is initiated by discussing your wedding by your guests for years to come.  Imagine, your special day being recited every time one of your guests has wine at dinner, parties or other events. If you are having a small affair, you may want to send each guest home with a bottle of vineyard wine in a custom 2 section wine carry bag, or with an engraved wine gift set.

A vineyard wedding theme is truly an imaginative theme that will leave your guests talking about the setting, ceremony, beauty and wine for a long time.  By using the various settings, restaurants and facilities on hand, you can create the “vineyard” feel for everyone.  Best of all, your wedding will be remembered as a beautiful and tranquil affair, made even more amazing by its surroundings and your theme.

Beach Wedding Decorations that Set the Mood for a Seaside Affair

beachweddings.jpgThe beach is a common theme for weddings throughout the year.  It is versatile, fun and allows the couple to celebrate in a setting that almost everyone has fond memories of both as children and adults.  Worldwide, the beach is a setting that people enjoy year round.

Almost everyone has spent at least one day of their lives visiting a beach.  Whether the day was spent playing, enjoying the sun or just relaxing… beaches are magical places that allow us to forget the worries of the day and enjoy some of the finest environments that nature has to offer.  The beach is also a magical and mystical place, offering up unique treasures such as polished rocks, shells and even occasionally relics of days gone by, such as bottles, pottery and parts of ships.  There is nothing more calming than sitting on the beach and staring at the water and horizon of the ocean or at the unique patterns in the water, lake or river side.

beachwedding7.jpg Beaches are also place where romance blossoms or matures.  Walks in the moonlight alongside a lake or ocean set a mood for even the most unromantic.  Lying side by side or sitting on a beach allow a unique closeness that is hard to replicate in virtually any setting, even if the beach is mobbed by people.  Who would not be impacted by the image of a wind swept, sandy beach as lake or ocean waves gently and methodically lap the shoreline?

For all these reasons and many more, beaches provide the perfect theme for most weddings.  Whether ocean side or landlocked, everyone can relate and almost every one can enjoy the theme, using their own memories as fuel to get in the mood of the wedding theme.  Even the most unromantic can find something to like about the beach, ocean or environment even if it is only misty nights, distant clanging of boat mooring lines or the unique sound of foghorns.

beachwedding4.jpg With that in mind, beach wedding decorations can set a mood that can be “all things to everyone.”  If you enjoy the ocean or bodies of water, a beach theme evokes images of children playing and warm sunny days.  If you enjoy the mystery of the ocean or a lake, the beach theme replicates that imagery as a metaphor for the mysteries a happy couple will unfold in their new lives together.  If you enjoy those misty seaside nights, a beach theme can use that imagery of warm, humid nights with interesting sounds to build a mood of mystery, adventure and security.

To set the mood from the beginning, try using beach towel stickers affixed to your wedding invitations or as an add-in with them.  Have guests sign a seaside allure traditional guest book as they arrive at the wedding.  Colors such as sea-green or aqua blue can be used to decorate your reception hall and if you have a separate cocktail hour before the reception but after the wedding.

Decorate your tables with metal boats filled with mints.  You also can give guests a Starfish Wine Stopper that is a great way to preserve wine and will remind guests of you for years to come.  Using boat wheel favor / place cards on your tables give guests a memento that is easily stored and can be placed in scrapbooks when guests get home.

beachwedding3.jpg Other decorations can include vases filled with miniature shells.  Food also can be a decoration, particularly if you use foods that are synonymous with the beach such as lobster, clams and salads that focus on crisp greens.  Napkins in seaside colors can also play a role in setting your theme.  If you want more traditional colored napkins, use beach colors and pastels for cocktail napkins.

The beach is versatile and offers something positive and friendly for almost anyone.  By using it as a theme in your wedding, you give guests the ability to enjoy your interests and create their own images according to the big day as well as their own memories.  Beach themes set the mood for fun and can enhance your decorations whether you are celebrating your commitment by the sea, a lake or river.

How Much Wine & Champagne? – Ask The Expert Answer

 Question from Eloisa:

I am so confused. I’m not sure how to estimate how many bottles of Wine & Champagne to get for my event. A few web sites says that one champagne & wine bottle serves usually six glasses, the manager at the place where we may have our reception says a bottle serve 10-12 per bottle.

I also went to a few sites where it has me figuring the amount of guests Times No. of Hours Divide by 5 (No. of glasses) and that will tell me number of Bottles I should get and my husband is wondering on the size of the glass that will be used. I guess he is wondering are the glasses crystal or those plastic ones you get in the store.  Are any of these ideas correct? Can you help me in sorting this out? Thank you.

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Eloisa.  Let’s start with the Champagne.  Usually champagne is available for the toasting, and is poured by the catering staff.  If this is the case, your Catering Manager’s suggestion is accurate.  If people will be drinking the champagne throughout the event, then the amount would be different.

As for the wine, if you are providing wine for the meal only, usually you would allow 2 glasses per guest.  Your Catering Manager would know the size of glasses that are being used, and will give you a good guideline for that.

If you are providing wine for the entire event, as the main beverage, your amount of wine will be different again.  These variables are why you are getting so many different pieces of information.

Your Catering Manager will know when (and how long) you are using each type of alcohol, and will be your best source of information.  Will guests be drinking wine throughout the event, or will they switch to liquor and beer?  This will impact how much you will need.

Expect to have some alcohol left over, as it is very difficult to be exact in the amount that your guests will drink.  As a good host, you want to have enough.  Trust your Catering Manager.  They know the details of what you are planning, and will be your BEST source of information.  Ask them questions and get details, and you will feel more confident in their suggestions.

Wedding Favor Tags And Stickers – Decorate Your Perfect Day!

Wedding favor tags personalize the gifts you give your guests as a token of your appreciation. After the ceremony or during the reception, most couples give favors to their guests with special wedding favors tags as a keepsake. Wedding favor tags may also be used as place cards and escort cards. Choosing the right wedding favor tags expresses the unique theme of the day.

tags7.jpgWhy Do You Need Wedding Favor Tags?

Often there are certain popular gifts used as wedding favors such as bags of almonds, small bottles of wine, small soaps and picture frames. Affixed personalized wedding favor tags ensures the favor becomes a lasting memory of your special day for all your guests. Sweetheart heart shaped stickers with your names and the date of the wedding make the day unforgettable.

What Types of Favors Will You Give?

The wedding favor tags you use can match the type of favors you give. If you have an Oriental theme wedding, you can give out small fans personalized with cherry blossom fan stickers affixed to the sides. Maybe you decided to have a beach wedding and give out small, monogrammed finger towels. Affix a beach towel sticker with your names on each little towel to thank your guests for hanging with you in your special day.

What Will Your Wedding Favor Tags Say?

Decide what you want your wedding favor tags to say. You have several options:

- your names and the date;

- just your names;

- your monogram;

- both of your monograms;

- your monogram and your names; or

- themed wedding favor tags without personalization.

Once you decide what you want your wedding favor tags to express, you can select the style you prefer.

Ornamental baroque monogram favor/place cards are a classic way to define wedding favors and place settings featuring your names and a single monogram in the background. Heart to heart stickers have no names but still show your loving hearts.

tags6.jpgHow Do You Use Wedding Favor Tags?

Wedding favor tags can be hang tags tied to the gift with a ribbon, mini cards used on favors and as place cards or stickers affixed to favors. You can use the wedding favor tags anywhere you wish to keep with the theme of your day and express thanks to your guests for their participation. Use heart corner stickers with your names to jazz up the corner of presents to your wedding party. Wedding bell mini tags are perfect with a ribbon wrapped around the neck of a tiny bell for each guest to ring for the happy couple.

Every guest looks for a wedding favor tag attached to his or her special keepsake. It helps the guest to remember you day and the memories they shared with you. This reminder will often be kept in showcase spot, such as a curio or mantle. Your wedding favor will become a conversation piece for all the people who visit your guests. When you tag your favors, it makes it easy to recall where they came from. Wedding favor tags also add a professional feeling to all your accessories.

Many modern couples prefer the relaxed, informal feeling of an outdoor garden or beach wedding. No matter what the venue, wedding tags talk to your guests. Have starfish background favor/place cards at every setting for your beach wedding. Use butterfly favor/place cards for garden weddings in the spring. Whether you choose to have a formal or informal wedding, tags express the sentiments of the happy couple while reflecting their theme.

You can use tags or stickers on any type of wedding favor. Certain traditional wedding favors are always given with wedding favor tags including boxes of candy, miniature wine glasses, jars of honey and personalized photo CDs. No matter what favor you have, matching wedding favor tags make it even more appealing.

Carefully chosen wedding favor tags express your gratitude to everyone for sharing your once in the lifetime day.

Wedding Reception Favors – Choosing and Displaying them…

favors5.jpgWedding reception favors are tokens of appreciation to all the wedding guests who shared in the joy of your wedding day.  They can be small, yet special items that tell your guests that you truly appreciate their attendance or large and extravagant items that your guests will be talking about for years.  No matter how simple or elaborate, you should give some sort of small thank you gift to your guests.

Wedding reception favors are generally placed on the table behind each individual place setting or on a main table near the exit door of your reception location.  As guests prepare to leave your wedding, they should be able to see the gifts and know that they are meant for guests to take home.  While your wedding reception favors will often double as wedding reception table decorations, your guests might not realize they are supposed to take them home if they are on the individual tables.  In order to solve this problem, most wedding reception favors have a card or label on the front that has the wedding couple’s name and wedding date on the front or with envelopes addressed to the individual guests.  This can also be useful as a place card holder for the table settings.  To solve any confusion as to what is meant to be taken home and what is to be left behind, your wedding planner or DJ can just make an announcement towards the end of the reception to remind your guests not to forget their wedding reception favors.

favors6.jpgIf you choose to place all of the wedding reception favors on a single table near the door, make sure it is decorated nicely and attracts people to it so guests don’t just walk right past it.  If you have wedding reception favors that are easily stackable, consider making an attractive sculpture out of the favors to attract the eye or place them on multiple layers using stacking boxes and covering them with table linens.

You also want to make sure you have plenty of wedding reception favors for every single person who attends your wedding.  This means ordering extras just in case additional people show up to your reception unexpectedly or people end up taking more than their share of the favors.  This can be a problem with setting up a single table near the exit door, especially if you have a somewhat valuable or extravagant gift.  While you might not think your wedding guests will take an extra favor, it is much better to be safe than sorry.  Consider keeping a few of the favors hidden away just in case this happens so you can have any extras handed out to lingering guests who may not have gotten one of the gifts.

Most wedding reception favors are just little tokens that go with the theme of the wedding and usually have the name of the couple and the wedding date engraved or labeled on the item in some way.  Popular wedding reception favors include candles with decorative candle holders, flower vases, drink coasters, little tins filled with mints, glass jars filled with candy, miniature bottles of champagne, silver picture frames with a photo of the newly married couple, paper weights, small potted plants, or snowglobes.

favors3.jpgFor the wedding party, you might want to give out more extravagant wedding reception favors as an extra special thank you for all they have done for you before and during the wedding.  This might include a larger version of the smaller wedding reception favors or something more substantial.  Consider choosing silver plated wine stoppers, engraved key chains, jewelry items, or gift baskets that are filled with a variety of favors and more personalized gifts inside for each bridesmaid and groomsman.

No matter what you choose for your wedding reception favors, just make sure they are a symbolic expression of your appreciation for everything your guests have done to support you and your spouse on your special day and beyond.  While it doesn’t have to be extravagant, it does have to be from the heart.

White Wine or Red Wine? – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Eloisa:

We are thinking of Tri-tip or rosemary chicken or if our budget allows maybe both and so my husband and I were wondering what goes well white or red wine?  In one reply you mention maybe having a bottle of Red & White Wine on the tables and so I was wondering would it be better to just have one type of wine for which ever Main Meal we decide on ( Tri-tip or Rosemary Chicken)?  or if we decide to have both Tri-tip & Rosemary Chicken then should we have both Red & White and the Tables?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Eloisa.  The days of white wine for chicken and red wine for beef are gone.  These days, the focus is on the more subtle pairing of a wine that compliments the food.  For example, you don’t want the wine to overpower the taste of the chicken, and vica versa.  It is common to have both red and white wine with any dish these days.  Chicken also works well with a dry rosé  or a merlot for something a little different.  The focus when choosing the wine would be flavours that compliment the food.  The rosemary chicken would require a lighter tasting wine than the tri tip which would need a stronger wine to compliment the flavour.

It is common practise to have two bottles of wine for table that seats 8.  I would recommend one white and one red (or a rosé  and a merlot) to give your guests a choice.

Your caterer will give you some suggestions in your price range, as will your liquor supplier.  Enjoy the taste testing!

How to Decorate A Park? Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Amber:

I’m having my wedding at a park that’s surounded by trees and i’m not sure how to decorate the area of just trees…any ideas???

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.  There are many ways to decorate your space for the ceremony.  If you follow the link to Wedding Decorations for Ceremony and Reception, you will find a lot of options under Ceremony Decorations.

For example, you have 10 designer aisle runners to choose from to define your aisle space.  The Tulle rolls comes in many colours and three sizes, so you can define the ceremony space by draping them from tree to tree, leading the guests to the site.  Depending upon how dark it will be amongst the trees, you might choose to have Light Garlands entwined with the Tulle to create a lovely sparkle of light.  In addition, there are many bows that can anchor the Tulle to the trees, and I suggest the Pre-made Tulle and Ribbon Bows with Silk Rose.

If throwing confetti is not allowed in the park, you might opt for the Standard Bottle Bubbles favours which can be given to each guest.  They can surround the space with bubbles gently floating on the air.

There are many ways to decorate your space, and many choices if you follow the above links.

Good luck with your plans, and if anyone has any ideas, feel free to comment on this blog.

How Much Champagne? Sparkling Cider? Red Wine? White Wine? – Ask the Expert Answer

Question from Eloisa:

When planning an Event and you are on a budget and you would like to try and buy enough bottles of champagne, wine, non-alcoholic drinks in which there might not be too much leftover in the bottles, then my question is, when I’m preparing the invitation is it all right to put on a card asking the guests "when toasting would you like Champagne or sparkling Cider? and for Wine, "would you like Red or White?"

I know my husband would like us to try and buy a close number that will be used then to buy too many and that most of the bottles we bought will go to waste.  I’m sure that I can write the two questions about the drinks differently but how? Can you help me in asking the question correctly? My guess is the number of tables I will be using is 8-12 tables. Thank you for your help.

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Hi Eloisa,

Your caterer can guide you on the amount of alcohol required for your event.

Asking guests what they would like in terms of alcohol is not done on an invitation or with an invitation.  You are planning the party, and what you supply is up to you as the host(ess).

Usually, for a table that seats 8 people, 1 bottle of white wine, and 1 bottle of red wine is provided for a sit down meal.  Having champagne is usually reserved for champagne breakfasts or buffet style receptions with finger food.  Having champagne for the toast, and then wine at the meal is usually for very formal receptions.

If non-alcoholic wine or cider is desired, one bottle for every three tables is the usual, as most people will drink the wine served.  I have seen a small tent-card notice on tables at a reception saying non-alcoholic wine (or cider) is available at the bar or by asking your server.

When providing alcohol for guests at a reception, the rule of thumb is to plan for two glasses per guest.

Depending what province you are in, and where your reception is being held, you may be able to return unopened alcohol.  Check with your caterer, the place that you are holding your reception, or where you buy your liquor licence.  They will have this type of information for you, and I recommend you start with them for suggestions and ideas.  They will tell you what is allowed, and they will also have serving guidelines.

I hope this helps.

The Ideal Wedding Party Favors for Your Wedding Day

Photo Glass CoastersPlanning a wedding is not easy but with the right mix of preparation and careful attention to details, this can be a joyful and memorable event for both the bride and groom as well as for the rest of the wedding party. Planning and preparing for the wedding cannot just be single-handedly managed by the soon-to-be-wedded couple. If you are one of the couple, you need all the help you can get from your friends, relatives and if the budget allows it even from professional wedding planners. And if help was indeed provided, you, as a sign of courtesy and tradition need to show your heartfelt thanks and appreciation thru the giving of wedding party favors.

According to Wikipedia, “the wedding party refers to the group of people participating in the ceremony with the bride and groom (formally, bridegroom). The bridal party consists of the maid of honor (matron of honor if she is married) and the bridesmaids. The groom is accompanied by the best man and the groomsmen. Finally, any flower girls and page boys (including the ring bearer) are traditionally included in the wedding party.”

The other members of the wedding party include the parents of the bridegroom, grandparents, uncles and aunt, cousins and even in some cases the favorite pets of the bridegroom. So technically, you have to consider this large group as the persons most likely to lend help in preparing for this very momentous occasion in your life. They are the people you trust because of the faithful friendship and guidance they have provided in the past and will continue to provide in the future. Therefore, careful attention should be given in selecting the best possible wedding party favors for them.

Personalized Travel Candle.JPGYou might think that this is just a minor detail in the wedding preparation that needs no special attention from you. But lest you be misled, small dissatisfaction can grow into a major controversy later in your married life. So, to avoid any untoward consequences that you might later on regret you also need to pay attention to this “small detail” in your wedding planning.

It must be remembered, that aside from helping you prepare for this event, they were also there in your times of need, moments of sorrow and joy. They are practically the persons who helped shape who you are today. They are indeed very special and thus require also a special kind of favors that they can take home and remind them of your wedding day for years to come.

The favors may not necessarily be expensive or too exotic or too grand to be worth the time of your wedding party. They can be simple yet pleasing to the eye. An example would be Victorian style bottle openers, personalized cosmetic bags or weekender tote bags, round monogrammed flask, butterfly-shaped cookie cutters and personalized cd/dvd holders. The possibilities are endless, you just have to stretch a bit your imagination to come up with the perfect favors suitable to be given to your love ones.

For the party members who are female, personalized manicure sets, leather cosmetic cases, engagement ring key chain and monogrammed bracelets are perfect for them. These items can be appreciated by the female set. For the male members of your party, personalized leather wallets or pocket knives can be both practical and useful. These items can immediately be used as some men are really that active thus the pocket knives are ideal. Let us also not forget the parents of both the bride and groom, they are the very reason why you are here today. You wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity of thanking them for all the support and love they have provided you through-out these years. An inexpensive item include personalized business card holder or personalized passport cases are suitable.

Anniversary Table Centrepiece Ideas – Ask The Expert Answer

Question from Eloisa:

RE:  Centrepiece for my 25th Wedding Anniversary.

I was thinking of a photo holder with a little ribbon around it or a tissue bell with a BIG 25 on it but I can’t decide which is best. My celebration will be in the afternoon and so no candles and I don’t know about flowers. I want to do something in which I don’t mind giving it away or maybe having it thrown away. I know that probably sounds bad but I wouldn’t know what to do with so many centerpieces. But I would like some other ideas besides of the ones I mention above. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer from Bridal Expert Angela:

Congratulations on your upcoming 25th anniversary.  There are some nice table centrepiece ideas if you follow this link to Reception Decorations.   Depending upon what you choose for your centrepiece, why not give the centrepiece to the longest married couple at each table?  You can announce this and have the "winning couple" at each table stand and then give them all a around of applause.

You mentioned a photo holder. If you follow the link to Place Card Holders and Frames, you will see some very beautiful and cost effective picture frames. These favours can be given to each guest with your picture in it.

If you are having 2 bottles of wine on each table (white & red), you might consider using them as your centrepiece, arranged on a bed of petals or heart shaped confetti, using the "Head Over Heels Bride & Groom Bottle Stoppers" in the top of each bottle.  This is quite unique, and playful, and your guests are sure to be amused by the bottle stoppers.

Another idea would be to take one of the many beautiful "Flower Girl Baskets" as your centrepiece and fill it with chocolates, or your famous homemade cookies, or wrapped pieces of anniversary cake.  Follow the Flower Girl Basket link to see what choices are available.  If you choose the cake pieces, you might want to place one of the personalized stickers on each piece of cake, thanking your guests for coming, or wrapping each piece in ribbon.  There are a variety of stickers or personalized ribbon available, and they can be found by following the links.

If you follow the SHOP FOR links, you will find many ideas for your anniversary reception.

Good luck with your anniversary planning, and if I can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me again.

Personalized Bottle Stopper

Snowflake bottle stopper favorYou can decorate the corks of those wine bottles. Choose the appropriate figures or small object that would best suit the theme of your nuptial. You can top it with some toy sunglasses or make it stand like trees with leaf-shaped cut-outs to resemble a Hawaiian luau party look; you can also put some colored hearts and some little cupid dolls for a romantic valentine atmosphere; some may opt for a winter feel with some holiday trinkets and snowflakes ornaments. The choices and the ideas are seemingly infinite; your creative and unique celebration will definitely be remembered!

Actually, not only wines can you make fun and elegance show. For some, soda or beers or other spirits are more enjoyed. So why not give and share what’s preferred by most of your guests? Even if these drinks do not have a cork as its stopper, you can design its crowns or caps. Adorn it with some lightweight crafts or tie with very bright ribbons in colors similar to your motif. You may even want to give a touch of your wedding by simply making it as holders of your place cards on the guest tables. It does not only serve as your souvenir, it also stands as your name cardholders.

Wine Charms

wedding wine charm.jpgAnother accessory you can decorate your bottles is the charms. Like persons, you can put a silvery or a glittery chain. Whether a thin or a semi-thick one, the bottle’s neck will look fabulously elegant with this simple item. A personalized pendant with your name engraved, or even shaped into some wedding objects will surely give a lasting impression on your souvenirs. This will terrifically be a nice display item your guests will never miss out putting in their antiques!

Mini Wine Bottles

While purchasing these kinds of classy drinks might be too harsh for your pockets, why not head off to specialty stores and order some small bottles, which look quite the same with the original one. This will help you save up, and you can even refill these small bottles with the original content of the drink you prefer. Imagine can run wild as you decorate the bottle exactly as how it looks like with the big one. Nevertheless, some shops offer miniature versions of their products containing the original content already, well, this one will save your time a lot. Saving you from all the refilling and the label designing, but of course, it’s worth the while.

Signature Flavor

While wanting that unique favor, you might want to consider experimenting and coming up with your own flavor! Better for couples who have some bartending experience, or bartender friends, creating some signature drinks will be such a no-sweat! You can find some cookbooks having drinks menu, you can resort to these recipes and explore the fun of mixing cocktails or flavored drinks you can serve for your guests.

Aside from creating your own flavors; you can try out some wine floaters. Add some colored candies to a bottle of white wine, and it will prettily display a rainbow-bubbly effect on the surface.

Spoof Labels

Tags, stickers or labels, is one important part of the wine wedding favor. This will obviously show the details of the event. The memories will be mostly relived every time the couple’s names are seen on it, plus the date and the venue of the occasion. You can give a humorous or comical image by replacing the wine brand with your names or some catchy note such as “Merlot Marriage”.

Having these ideas at hand will keep you going and better, starting off with your drinks project! After all, you’d want your togetherness last over the ages…same as with your very own wedding wine favors!

Autumn Wedding Favors ? Splendidly Bronze

dreamstime_1421434.jpgAutumn or fall, as it is commonly called, is the perfect romantic season. It brings about the warmth, similar to that of the shared love, and the bright earth hues that dance with pure happiness. A wedding being set on this time of the year is absolutely ideal for those who have some passion for earthy look and would want an environmental ambience in their theme.

Though there might be some considerations for the earth tones selected, a wide variety of favors can be chosen from. You might want to mix and match different items of the same shade of color since the theme carries it well. Aside from a monochromatic motif, one can also combine different autumn colors. Basic colors will mostly complement, especially that they belong to the same category which is in fact will make your motif look more elegant and it will not look color- overloaded.

Popular trend now is to create a dual purpose on the decorations and the favors. For a multipurpose autumn wedding favor, consider your place cards or table number cardholder being decorated or shaped into piles of dried autumn leaves. Glittery and colorful artificial leaves are sold in most craft shops. Another idea is to purchase some small baskets, which you can fill up with golden and brownish artificial leaves. You can place a long stick as a stand holding the table number and some wedding detail cards at the tip.

To add some earthy touch to your guest dining tables, adorn your centerpieces with fall themed candles. Or, you can place some tea candles or floating candles inside a lantern, or somewhat a covering, with stenciled leaf-shapes. The effect of these leaf-shaped holes will romantically reflect all over the venue when the lights are dimly lit.

On the other hand, there are still a lot of items you can consider solely as autumn wedding favors. If you’ve got some sweet tooth and you think of having some sweets to share to your guests, why not personalize some candy tin cans packed with your favorite flavored candies or chocolates coated in autumn colored edible shells. This is a sure treat that your guests will enjoy and share with those little ring bearer boys and flower girls!

As always, couples may opt to give out useful home decorative items to their well-wishers. From walls to table tops, there are many kinds to get creative with and come out with your very own souvenir item.

- The ever conventional photo albums will definitely keep the memories alive. Accentuate it with leaf shaped beads and some brightly colored, glittery paper crafts, or you can also use some real dried leaves pressed in mulberry paper.

- Autumn Themed Wine Stoppers will definitely give lasting memories as the wines age. Stunning bronze colored decors will mostly bring out the festive fall look in your wine cellars, perfect for your entire bar buddies and formal adult guests.

- As you open up a new chapter of your life, now with a partner to share your days, share this commemoration with leaf shaped or leaf stenciled bookmarks. Its effect on your cake table will give an elegant earthy look to your set-up, something to mark and bring a lasting happy ending to the celebration.

- To bring alive the season, a functional and rare kind of give-away is the ornamental plant. You can either get some true plants in small pots or simply artificial ones. Or you can also give out some personalized seeds in customized packets which include your wedding details.

- Homemade maple or pear jelly or jam. Ideal for reminding the country taste after your wedding. Jars of these sweets are very complementary for autumn nuptials. Don’t forget to tie a thank you card or paste a self-made label to the jar with your wedding information.

- Wood chips and dried leaves are the most familiar autumn symbols. Gather some wood shavings, chips and collect golden crispy dried leaves, mix them and pack in netted materials or thin pouches. Add some few drops of sandalwood or your preferred scent of essential oils. This will then become your personalized potpourri. Finish it off with small artificial flowers and flimsy orange, brown and gold ribbons.

- Spiced-sweet smelling soaps are also nice autumn wedding favors you can impart with your guests. Find some leaf-shaped or pine cone shaped soaps, or if you have ample time, you can bring this to shops that offer soap carvings. You might also want to have some liquid soap with nature scents to be refilled to some smaller bottles, decorated with your own labels or spoofed brand names!

Earthy themed weddings is not boring at all, actually it’s elegant, classy and very relaxing. It brings you closer to nature, the decorations are not very strong but it brings in the warmth and romantic atmosphere, especially with these mementos which will keep the spirit last a lifetime!

Unique Wedding Invitations

Handmade Greeting Card.jpgYou are unique, a one-of-a-kind and you want to reflect it during your wedding.  There is no need to crack your head and have sleepless nights trying to figure out the best and most unique wedding invitations.  All you need is a little bit of creativity and time on your hands and that unique wedding invite will happen.

Basic information that needs to be included in your invitation cards are the wedding announcements (who is marrying whom) and family names, date, time and location of the ceremony and reception, and if necessary, a map to the venues to ensure your guests know exactly where to turn up.  Traditionally, invitations come in two envelopes – the outer one for mailing purposes and the more decorated, second envelope with the real aesthetic value.  In modern days, however, invitations are commonly passed by hand through friends and helpers and use only one envelope, even if they are mailed.

Wedding invitations can be sent by paper or non-paper materials.  Paper materials are, by far, the most commonly used as they are the most convenient to find and deliver to guests.  Paper invitations can be either in card or letter form, complete with matching envelopes.  Most wedding suppliers today are encouraging wedding couples and planners to be more environmentally conscious and provide ready-made and custom made cards on recycled, natural or biodegradable paper.  Recycled paper is commonly used these days as governments strive to lessen deforestation.  No different and just as good in quality as normal, new paper, it would be good for you to choose using recycled paper for your invitations (make sure you indicate this on your invite) so you can pass on the message to your guests that you do care for the future of mother earth.

Unique designs on your wedding invitations can feature modern patterns of circles, waves and swirls, instead of the conventional wedding bands, flowers, heart shapes and enjoined hands.  Colors for such cards are usually bolder too using the lesser-known shades of fuschcia, turqoise, citron, purple and even mustard brown.  These will give your invitations an unconventional flavor while maintaining the traditionalism of invitations.

4027.jpg To be different, you can also depict animated characters on your invitations instead of the normal romantic scenes.  Humor is always a good way to get your recipient’s attention and cartoon or drawn characters on your wedding invites are no exception.

Do-it-Yourself wedding invitations
are your surest way to ensure your invite is unique.  Materials you can use are venetian masks, beads, fake pearls, colored trace paper, wax seals, ribbons, bows, silk strings, soft wire, tulle and just about anything else that is pretty and pliable.  Whatever design you choose can be glamorized by adding a little bit of colored glitter, dust or embossing powder.  To reduce work on your invitations, have them monogrammed or stamped so you can have them personalized and reduce on decorative ideas at the same time.  Using pressed flowers is another inexpensive and unique way of creating a beautiful wedding invitation.

You can even get your wedding invitations on the wildflower paper, which can double up as a wedding favor.  Printing or writing your invitation on wildflower paper is an environmentally friendly idea where your recipients can always plant the cards instead of throwing them away.  The seedlings implanted in the paper will sprout and grow out of the card and bloom with wildflowers.  Your guests will not only have a constant reminder of your wedding day and the fun they had, they will be able to grow flowers and help keep their surroundings green.

Non-paper invitations are rare but not unheard of.  Wedding invitations are sent not via conventional methods but are printed, written or engraved on other “wedding” objects, such as wine bottles, creatively-tied bows neatly packaged into a box and even wineglasses.  As these will really stretch your budget, most couples reserve these unique invitations for the most distinguished guests like the mayor of their town, their bosses and any member of the higher echelon of society.  Some mid-range non-paper products that can be used to carry your wedding invites are mini teddy bears, little satin pillows and notes stuck on single stalks of roses and veils.

Wedding invitations are as much a stamp of your personality as any other wedding accessory and no matter which you choose, what is important is that the invite is a reflection of you and your spouse’s lifestyles and personalities.
