The Wonders of Winter Weddings and Winter Wedding Favors

Winter is often associated with cold gloomy days where people can’t wait to keep themselves indoors. Huddling around the fireplace, they snuggled for warmth and talked about the good old summer days. On the other hand, weddings are one of the glorious celebrations of humanity. When a man and a woman agree to bond towards each other and remain committed and faithful for the rest of their lives, it is a picture perfect scene when both of them slide the ring into each other’s finger and sweetly utter the words “I Do.”

Each newly wed has different stories to tell. A typical observer would wonder if they can overcome the storms that are bound to come. The long winter that awaits most married couples that may threaten to break their bond built on happiness, joy and often, tears.

It is an irony that some couples choose this freezing wintry season to tie the knot. One would wonder if the excitement of a wedding can lift up the cold and murky ambience of winter. However, on a different thought, it is rare for the landscape to be a picturesque scene of bluish white. Apart from that, the experience of having soft snow falling all around you when you kiss the bride can be a memorable event. To lift up her veil and brush away the snow that lingers on her face is truly a romantic moment for both.

In almost every wedding of our age, the themes used can play a big role in deciding the success of a party. Some may love using colors as a theme, mainly red being the most commonly used color. Asians who have migrated to foreign lands may want to hold their own Asian styled wedding where other non Asians are starting to adapt and follow suit. Others would be intrigued to use the seasons as a wedding theme. Winter themed weddings are quite uncommon compared to the hot and colorful seasons of spring, summer and fall.

However, it does not mean it can’t be done. Actually, the concept of a winter weddings can be quite original. If the budget is there, you can actually celebrate it in style. Just think of being married while you and your other half are holding hands inside a customized made ice cathedral! The groom will be wearing an all white suit while the bride will look dazzling in a white wedding gown with her transparent veil propped over her face. Right behind the priest, an ice sculpture of both their names can be seen clearly with aid of a pair of lights shining on them. The walls are solid but there are parts where the ice is less thick, enabling the guests to see the snow falling outside.

As tradition has it, wedding favors must more or less complement the wedding. It is customary as it is a sign of gesture and thanks to the guests for their effort and their time. One may not find it necessary to find the perfect wedding keepsakes but this should not be the case. As often as undervalued as it may seem, wedding tokens are the essence to make the magic totally complete.

Winter wedding favors are available almost everywhere. If the winter season folds near the season of Christmas, you can always give them miniature Christmas trees. Apart from that, ornaments like baubles decorated with the bride and grooms name can be the perfect little keepsake too. However, there is another option. Instead of shopping for it, why don’t you make your own wedding favors? Personalized winter wedding favors are simple yet inexpensive. All you need is just some creativity and some time. Your wedding photo can become a great wedding memento. Just decorate the edges with some cotton wool to give a snowy feeling and write your own personal messages to the guests. They will feel more appreciated as you are taking the effort to write down their names and the messages. If you want to give it an extra boost, stuff it inside a transparent Christmas bauble and fill it with potpourri and other decorative items. Now it is no longer only an ornament but also a wedding keepsake too.

Do you have nephew and nieces? Ask them to help you by building miniature snowmen. They will really enjoy the process. These tiny gifts which will hold the name of the guests can function as a wedding favor and a place card holder too. That is what I called killing two birds with one stone.

Winter weddings may be associated with cold and gloomy days but the power of a wedding is enough to bring the warmth of the sun out from any day, any time.
