A place card holder is a wonderful wedding accent. The main purpose of it is to hold the guest’s name card which will assist in helping your guests in finding their designated seat. It is a subtle way of directing your reception’s seating and they also set an elegant tone to your wedding dinner. Planning a reception with open seating? A place card can also serve as a lovely table decor.
Regardless of your seating plans, your guests will love finding a favour waiting for them, as a placecard holder is usually left as a gift for the guest to bring home. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Although many prefer the classical picture frame type but modern pieces also come in a variety of shape and sizes.
There are dual purpose holders used both as a card holder and also a box to store other wedding favours such as sweets and cakes, funny shaped holders in cartoon character or goofy shapes, novelty holders such as key ring and torchlight holders, the list just goes on and on.
It all boils down to individual choice and budget; depending on the wedding theme you choose there is always a variety of place card holders out there to suit the tone and setting of the dinner.
There are various aspects to consider when selecting your placecard holder. The style and location of the dinner plays a major role in this selection. Generally speaking with a more formal reception held in a hotel one should use a more ornate holder but with a simpler less formal one then a wider choice is available according to the theme. Match the color of your card holder to your wedding décor, for example for white or silver décor use a silver holder. During the planning phase of your wedding, you will eventually reach the point where you must decide if you want to give wedding favours to your guests.
Keep it mind that it is always thoughtful for the host to provide the guests with a favour to remember the occasion and this will be appreciated by the guests. Should you decide to give out favours an interesting way is to use the holder as the favour box. This adds a personal touch to each favour.
As for the printing of the name cards there are a number of ways to go about it, for those who want to save more time, there are plenty of ready made printable cards in the market. These cards can be readily purchased from almost any store; from supermarkets to wedding boutiques they are available in numerous styles and designs. The blank portions where the names of the guests go on can either be hand filled or printed using a personal computer and printer. Guidelines to print directly onto the cards are usually included with them.
Of course if budget permits you could send out to a professional printing press to print. You may be surprised as the prices of such professional printing have gone down greatly when compared to prices of yesteryears. The client would simply convey his or her idea of how the card would look and pass on a guest list. Then the design agency would comply with the specification and print out the cards. A professional agency will no doubt be able to add that magic touch to the cards as it is their bread and butter and it will be one less headache for the wedding planner. Like so many things in our life, modern technology has made it possible to make things a lot easier.
Lastly, it is advisable to make your choice on to suit your budget. Buying an unusual favour to spoil your guests for your special day is not a good excuse to indulge yourself in a senseless shopping spree. Your preferred place card holder should be able to add a joyous mood to a wedding dinner but does not create a constraint to your already tight budget. Your guests will be appreciative any memorabilia of the wedding regardless of how much you spent on it. It’s the thought that counts.
