You’re heading for the happiest day of your life soon. It’s the big wedding day and you want it to be perfect. You don’t want the typical white church wedding or the now famous garden wedding. You dreamt of something mysterious and bold, totally different from other weddings. You want to be unique and you want to create a statement.
You have the idea but where do you go from there? So where can you find these exotic and different kind of wedding reception supplies?
Ahh, let me share with you a secret or two not only on the places where you can find these eccentric items but I’ll be an angel and share one or two ideas of how to create a unique wedding.
Unique wedding themes are becoming more and more popular with younger generation brides nowadays. It’s important to make sure you stick with your theme throughout the whole time starting from the invitation cards, the wedding cake, and right until the goody bags for your guests.
Taking into account that you have slashed the white wedding off your list, let’s have a wedding with colours. In particular let’s have a black and red color theme. Better yet, why not have a Gothic or Victorian wedding. Not only can it be elegant and mysterious, it is definitely 100 % original. So what do you need and where do you get the things to create this perfect reception?
You can have the wedding set up at a romantic historical restaurant. Arrange with the restaurant owner about your plan and I’m sure he will be more than happy to redecorate the place and arrange it to suit your wedding theme.
Make sure you have a lot of candles (preferably black and red candles) together with the exotic handcrafted candelabras. Dark fabric swags in velvet, satin or lace would be a lovely way to spruce up a plain room. To top it off, get some tablecloths in dark colors with elaborated laces for your dining table.
If you want to highlight the Victorian element to your wedding, a number of flowers are necessary. Black and red roses decorated with black laces with silky satins would be mysteriously beautiful for the romantic occasion. You can also scatter rich red or purple roses, around the table to create an alluring look.
The music has to be well chosen as well. The band Meatloaf has a lot of beautiful love songs that I deemed would be appropriate for the occasion. Or if you have a gothic style DJ that could mix the songs to create a mysterious groove that would be more than perfect.
To add colour and a distinct taste to your food, pomegranates will give you a gothic feel to it. You can add them in your sauces, drinks and dessert. Depending on your budget you can have a large buffet style spread with roasted quail, or a nice roasted chicken or beef and some finger food like sausages. Make sure you remember your grapes and also bread. A red wine in a goblet would also create a nice illusion that you’re fasting during the Victorian Era.
You also need to think about your wedding ride. A perfect gothic wedding would of course be a hearse. But if you think that a hearse is a little too intimidating; why not try a horse-drawn carriage or a vintage 1920 car driven by a chauffeur. That would certainly perks up your wedding. You can check with your local car rental to see whether they provide these services or not.
To get your supplies of the gothic wedding and to get more ideas on what you can add to liven it up to the theme, head down to your local vintage stores. Large party stores supplies are always a good place to look for any kind of wedding item. You could also find something surprisingly unique at your local thrift shop or the flea market. Make sure you check out the antique shops, and costume shops. You can also find some nice surprise at Halloween stores. Since you are at that, why not try the internet? Whatever the theme is, always remember to follow through with the theme in every aspect of your wedding planning. Pay close attention to every detail, right down to the themed wedding accessories, is the best way to leave a lasting impression on you and your wedding guests.
